Stargazing Error?

Maybe I just did it wrong, but there have always been errors with this newer feature so I figured I'd ask.

It looks like you might have linked the top center star of the branching bit to the third center star rather than the second center star. Perhaps that might be it?

This is not a bug. You are missing a couple connections. The first star on top should not connect to the third star down but it should connect to the second.
