*HELLO ALL! Please do not post here unless you have been accepted into the RP! For any questions please visit the discussion board located Here *

It’s just another day, you were busy doing whatever it was you were doing; grocery shopping, heading to school, taking a hike, anything, when it just happened to catch your eye. An object, seemingly common but yet obscure, it managed to grab your attention, pulling your focus to it and solely it. You dropped your items, ditched your friends, and reached for it.

The item felt warm to the touch, but not hot, you feel a pull from within the object, almost like a pulse. As you flipped it over you noticed three jagged lines appearing like vicious scratches slicing through the object. You are puzzled, what on earth is it? And why do you feel drawn to it? You gently rub a finger over the smooth back on the object, still feeling the warmth. Curiosity pulling you further, you run a thumb over the scratches. Everything goes black.

Your body feels compressed, your mind close to exploding, flashes of light behind your eyes start to make you dizzy, but then it’s gone. You feel fine again, and when you opened your eyes you realize. You’re definitely not in Kansas anymore. Strange noises greet your ears, high pitched whistles, low whirring and clicks. But above all else, its the electricity you feel in your veins, as if your body is singing. Ready for whatever is about to happen next.

You know you are not home, something feels different about this place, slowed down and yet fast paced? Where are you? Survey your surroundings, what do you see? What is the object in your hand? Do you dare brush it again? It is cool now, but what is it? A rock? A crystal? Something different altogether? What does the symbol mean?

Suddenly something reaches out to you, but not quite literally.

{ Who are you ? }

Rumbles the voice through your head, coming from nowhere and yet everywhere at once.
Suddenly, from out of your line of sight comes a monstrous creature, something purely out of myths and legends, a dragon.

What do you do? This being feels connected to you somehow, it draws ever closer, you are frozen with shock. What happens next?

Basically:

-The water supply is dwindling. What is presumed to be a test from the Unknown, creeks, and rivers have been drying up. It has not rained in weeks, and even what little water dragons have been able to conjure, it quickly is absorbed back into the earth after no more than a couple gulps. The temperature is not warm, but snow in the peaks and Ice Lands has been melting at an alarming rate, not pooling, just disappearing which has been cause for alarm for the creatures that need the ice and snow to survive. The key is to find out why, it has reached such an alarming level that the dragons are finally seeking outside of themselves for help, they need the puzzle masters and alternative insight of humans. They also need their power.

- The dragons are in trouble, they placed simple items in the human realm, reaching out to those who would be drawn to their call, their magic having grown ever weaker as time has gone on. Ancient stories in their realm talked of a time when humans & dragons worked together as one, bringing them to their strongest when working as a team, but humans long ago disappeared to a place parallel to the dragon realm, and soon dragons were all but forgotten to them aside from stories and myths.

- Humans cannot cross the realms without their objects, be them stones, crystals, fossils, something small and easy to catch their eye. The first time an object has been ‘brushed’, they are whisked away to the opposite realm, and near wherever their dragon may be hiding so they can ‘connect’. If a human does not have a dragon destined for them yet, the stone will take them to Sacral Grounds, and ancient place surrounded by jagged stone structures, a dried up creek, and a brisk wind from the North. This is the meeting place for humans and dragons from times long forgotten, humans will always arrive here when brushing their object after connecting with their dragon.

- Dragon power is extremely limited without a rider. Not much more than simple elemental conjuring such as breathing fire or a bolt of electricity, this is as a result of the danger they are in. Something is feasting on the ancient powers, growing stronger with each passing day, testing those who try to survive off the land however it can. This power is Unknown, but ever present. It’s slick, icy presence can be felt to anyone that reaches too far out of their own mind. Caution must be taken for if it grabs you, it will drain you and your dragon to your weakest.

-Time is not the same between the two realms, four days within the Dragon Realm, costs an entire week in the Realm of Humans. This will cause conflict between the normal lives of humans and the dire needs of the dragons. Jump realms wisely.

Alterar

The dragon placed his slim head on his front legs, brightly colored eyes shining against what little sunlight streamed past his hulking body and onto his face. The snow that fell gently from the darkening sky slid hastily off his smooth scales. His eyes were a sterling silver color, until he blinked, and then they were a vibrant purple. Alterar rested his eyes, letting out a loud snort as he rolled over on his side drowsily. He opened them now, slit pupils now a dangerous crimson hue. The dragon could feel it, the anger, the pain, the hurt. Red shimmered angrily on his once iridescent white scales, and his claws dug into the dirt irritably. He lifted up his head, wings flaring majestically as he stood and paced back and forth around his area.

Liefhe was coming.

Liefhe

“I’m so sick and tired of this!” She screamed angrily, picking up a vase and smashing it angrily at the wall. The glass shattered into a hundred pieces, the fragile material sliding across the ground. Liefhe’s wild eyes searched around the hall, and she headed over to the main room of her home. The young woman pulled open a cabinet, picking up a translucent stone with a glowing centre. It was a little smaller than her palm, just enough so that she could wrap her fingers around the entire surface. Liefhe gazed intently at the pulsing center, watching as it shifted from a patient pearly tone to a fiery red shade. She squeezed the crystal, taking in a deep breath as she waited for the shift from the human realm to the dragon one.

Alterar

”You’re back, Liefhe.”

He stopped his intent pacing only to sit back on his haunches. Alterar leaned down, placing his snout at the young woman’s eye level. His glowing red eyes glinted gently, and he allowed Liefhe to wrap her arms around his jaws. The dragon lifted her several feet off the ground, snorting in amusement as she realized what was happening.

“Put me down!” She called out with an indignant frown, though a wide smile spread across her face.

His scales shifted to a gentle yellow, and he snorted satisfactorily at her quick change from anger to happiness. Alterar twisted his neck around, allowing her to maintain her footing as he placed her down by his warm side.

”You are not faring well.” Alterar looked down to catch Liefhe’s gaze, his eyes now matching the deep blue of his scales.

She mumbled something unintelligible, but he could make out the last piece of her words. “Let’s trade places.” Alterar snorted at her last statement. “You don’t want that.” He replied bluntly. The dragon lifted up one of his translucent feathered wings, holding it waywardly over Liefhe’s head. The snow continued to fall, beginning to pile onto his wing as he provided makeshift cover for the young woman. A cold winter wind blew through the area, and Alterar could feel Liefhe squishing closer against his body for warmth.

“You’re too fragile for this world.”

"Have a lovely day!"

Katella left the clinic, giving a halfhearted wave to the receptionist. She sighed as she began the long journey to the bus stop, her crutches clicking on the sidewalk. Maybe she should stop at the store... she didn't have very many groceries left...

She suddenly stepped on something hard. Looking down, she didn't see anything at first, but then she moved and the light shifted slightly, reflecting off of the item.

She picked it up. It was a stone, clear as glass. She wasn't one for picking up random things off the ground, but there was something about it...

She could feel something scratched into one side, but the clarity of the stone made it impossible to read, so she ran her finger over it.

Immediately, everything went dark. She felt as if she were being pulled a million different directions at once. Her head was spinning violently and she nearly blacked out until she felt herself on something solid again.

She opened her eyes to find herself in a strange, dull wasteland. Black hills dotted the landscape and everything looked so... dead.

She turned around and found herself face-to-face with a skeleton. She jumped back in surprise. It was no ordinary skeleton... it was huge and resembled a giant lizard of some kind. She stepped closer to inspect it, when the thing opened its mouth.

"Who dares disturb the eternal slumber of the great dragon?"

She darted back behind a boulder, terrified. The thing's movements were sharp and unnatural and only the head seemed to move.

She peeked around the corner. The skeleton was no longer moving. She turned around to look for some means of escape and found herself looking into the eyes of a large, black dragon.

My greatest apologies. I did not mean to startle you, child.

She fell backwards, scrambling to get away from the huge beast. The thing poked at one of her fallen crutches with a long claw.

"What is the purpose of this instrument, child?

She looked up at him. He didn't seem to be interested in killing her... She looked over at the crutch.

"It helps me to walk. I have a bad leg." She explained.

"I'm going home"
"See you tomorrow"
Alyssa walks towards her car, thinking.
She digs through her purse, not finding her keys. Frowning, she walks back toward the supermarket, thinking the whole while that she must've left them on her desk.
In the corner of her eye, Alyssa spots an manhole cover. Nothing out of the ordinary. Although... it appears to be cracked open. Maybe she could squeeze through it... no, why bother.
Alyssa does it anyways, what's the harm? She was going home already. She squeezes through the hole (wishing she were smaller) and turns on her phone flashlight.
What's that purple glowing stone? It's not very common to find such things, so Alyssa carefully picks it up.
What is that black shape over there? It seemingly just appeared, or at least Alyssa had just noticed it. Slowly walking towards it, Alyssa has her doubts. It's probably some homeless group, those are pretty common here...
As her flashlight falls on the heap, Alyssa leaps back, screaming, "WHAT THE-" her voice cuts short as she breathlessly runs back towards the ladder.
I mean you no harm.
A frightened, wide eyed, and scared Alyssa responds to this...
Dragon?
"Why are you here? Why am I here?"

The soft tinkle of the bell above the door signaled that the last customer left the store. Morrigan slumped forward, her forehead resting on the cool glass of the counter top, and sighed. Today had been an exhaustingly long day. She straightened up slowly, she wasn't done quite yet. Stepping out from behind the counter she began the daily ritual of closing down the shop.

Some time later Morrigan stepped out onto the sidewalk, wearing considerably less jewelry and colorful scarves than before, turning she locked the door to the shop. Checking her phone as she walked to her car Morrigan saw that she had enough time to stop at the park before going home. She needed some quite time to sit and recharge beneath her favorite tree before heading home to make dinner.

There weren't many people at the park when Morrigan got there. A couple teenagers near the playground and a couple sitting on a bench. Morrigan didn't pay them any attention as she walked toward her favorite tree, an old, huge, gnarled thing that sat almost completely surrounded by bushes.

"Hello, friend." Morrigan murmured as she placed a hand on the rough bark.

Morrigan caught a glint of something out of the corner of her eye. Looking down she saw something partially buried in the dirt at the base of the tree. Reaching down she freed the object from the dirt. Before she could get a look at what it was she felt as if the world collapsed around her. Pressure squeezed her from all sides.

Morrigan gasped as she felt the pressure release. She found herself on her hands and knees amidst, not the roots and leaves that she expected but various colored rocks piled and arranged in patterns.

Before she had a chance to stand a voice boomed in her head.

What are you doing in my garden?

"Where are you going?"

Her brother's voice took her by surprise as she led Skittles out of the barn. She stopped in her tracks, and turned to look at Tyler.

"I'm taking Skittles out for a trail ride," she said, frowning at the accusatory tone in his voice.

"You didn't even come say hi to mom. We've hardly seen you for two days," he said now crossing his arms to look down at his sister.

Ava stuck out her lip defensively. Her brother happened to be two years younger than her, but he seemed to have the impression he was older. She figured it had something to do with the fact that he towered over her by at least a foot.

"I've been busy. I have to take Skittles out. He was weaving in his stall. He's bored out of his mind." She didn't wait for a response before turning away. Skittles hooves clomped at the ground as she walked.

"Will you be back for dinner?" Tyler called after her.

"Yeah, yeah," Ava said dismissively.

As she exited the barn, gave Skittles a pat, running her hand along his shiny black coat. She put one leg in the saddle and quickly threw the other one over.

Hugging the horse with her legs, he began to move steadily forward.

She could feel the relief as the stress began to leave her body. It'd been a long couple days, trying to find a part-time job now that the rodeos were slowing down.

Giving Skittles a quick poke in the sides with her heels, they took off to reach the tree line.

They'd barely made it into the woods when something caught her eye. "Whoa," she said softly, gently bringing Skittles to a stop before dismounting.

Curiously, she approached the item. It was a stone, and she couldn't explain it, but she felt drawn to it. As she turned it over, she noticed something on the other side. Her brows furrowed as she ran her fingers along it.

Darkness. There was a pressure, almost like she was being lifted, and in a brief moment, it was over.

Ava gasped for air. It felt like the wind had been knocked out of her.

About time.

A voice echoed in her head and she stumbled in shock.

I've been waiting for you.

A large shadow suddenly cast over her, blocking out the sun. Ava looked up and screamed. This time, her stumble caused her to fall backwards. She hardly noticed the sharps of the rocks digging into her back.

It must be a dream, or she must be crazy, because coming down from the sky was a dragon.

Katella glanced over at the still form of the skeletal dragon.

"It moved." She said, pointing.

"Apologies, child. That was me. I thought I might have a bit of fun... I had forgotten that humans are more easily frightened than dragons..." he said.

"How did you move it? I didn't see you do it." she asked. She was beginning to grow more curious than she was afraid, though she still maintained a respectful distance just in case.

"It is my magic, child." he said, laughing. "I had hidden myself from you."

She looked around her.

"What is this place? Who are you?"

"I am Vokunsesah, child. This place..." he gestured around him with his wing. "This is Dragon's Rest... It is where dragons go to perish... which happens far too often these days...

There was a sadness in his voice. He looked over at the nearby skeletal dragon.

That one was a friend... He perished many months ago when the waters first failed to come... There is dark magic at work here...

It was the crunch of a small foot through the hard snow that brought Locus out of his night dreams, something or someone was getting close to him. The shakiness in the breath confused him, for whatever it was, was bold enough to approach yet frightened? Of what? He huffed, smoke billowing heavily into the sky above.

It was the slightly cold, shaking hand touching his leg that caused a low hiss to escape from between his teeth, his long neck swinging around as his icy eyes flew open with an audible click.

“You’re real?” The little voice whispered, sounding so young. This was who he had called to? He would have to stop wasting so much magic as it was becoming scarcer and scarcer to produce.

{ Of course I am child, aren’t you? }

He rumbled back, turning his head so one pale orb could stare at the female, she had dark fur around her head, and seemed to be wearing a mismatch of loose and tight armour, though it didn’t seem protective in the slightest, especially from these elements. His wings ruffled uncomfortably, pinned tightly against the serpentine body, trying to hide their glimmer and glow.

_____________________

Wild could not believe what she was seeing, this large smoke breathing scaly creature before her, it was huge and mythical. She rubbed her eyes, pinched her arm, making sure she wasn’t dreaming or had been hit by a car. Speaking of, where is she?

One moment she had been running back to work from a late lunch, when the guy in front of her had been hit by a letter courier, tearing his bag open. She had stopped to help him gather his things when her hand wrapped around a flat black stone.

“What’s this?” She asked, grabbing at it quickly, she held it flat in her hand out towards the scattered gentleman. “S’not mine” The guy said gruffly, scrabbling with his arms to gather his belongings. Wild pressed further, having sworn she saw it drop from his bag. “No really sir, what is it?” She gestured towards him again, trying to make eye contact. The man looked up briefly his dark eyes catching hers for a mere moment, yet flashing an icy shade. “Why don’t you look closer?” he murmured, stuffing the last of his things into his pockets before standing abruptly and disappearing.

“Odd fellow.” Wild quipped, shaking her head. Finally she looked down at the warm stone in her hand, it was so smooth on the one side, but she could feel roughness on its back. As she flipped the stone over her fingers brushed against what felt like scratches on the stone.

In a sudden flash she felt like her body was crumbling, yet pulled in every direction, she was just about to scream out in pain when it alleviated and a sharp arctic breeze shook her to her bones.
“What on-“ She was just about to cry out when she realized she was not on the street anymore. Under her extremely inappropriate shoes, was a thin layer of ice, covering about a foot of snow she’d have to guess, the sky around her had grown dark as if the sun were setting, the first few stars starting to wink into existence.

She took a couple steps forward, her feet crunching cautiously through the tundra, when the rhythmic sound of something large breathing heavily brought her to a halt. Her head craned slowly to the right, breathe catching in her throat as she gazed upon the massive, slightly twinkling form of the reptile before her. She watched its body heave and release as it took in each new breath. It didn’t seem to be awake or moving, so she took a couple quiet steps forward, and reached out to lay a hand against its folded leg.

_____________________

The tiny human was frozen stick stiff when he spoke to her, it caused Locus to chuckle deeply.

{ Do not be alarmed, I’m not like the ‘lizards’ you are thinking of from back home, if you haven’t noticed, I’m slightly more superior. }

His tone was sarcastic, but playfully so, and he could see some of the panicked tension ease from her shoulders. When she had touched him, her mind had opened to his slightly, and he could see the thoughts racing behind her eyes.

{ No, I will not eat you. You are far to stringy to be of any nourishment. Yes, you are alive as far as I can see, yes this is real…. and yes. I can ‘read’ your mind when you a broadcasting yourself quite so vividly. }

The girl gasped, seeming to glare daringly at him, he winked quickly, chuffing another plume of pale smoke as a rumbling chuckle echoed deep in his belly. Her next questions he didn’t answer, choosing instead to hear her lovely voice again.

“Why am I here? Who are you?” Her voice never wavered, a sign of her boldness that he appreciated. Though she needed more courage if she were to face other dragons & their potential riders.

{ You are here because I called you. This is quite clearly not your home, it is mine but do not be alarmed. I called you because I need your help, my kind is dying, and with what little magic I have left I reached out to someone my soul hoped would assist. Can you do that, love? }

His voice had changed from sarcastic, to light and hopeful. He really did need her help, along with everyone else, but he worried the fear he could still smell on her would be to overwhelming.

_____________________

Wild was silent. Thinking hard over his words, he needed her help? What could she do? He was a dragon for crying out loud, she was just a tiny squishy human! She started to shake her head slightly when his voice, gentle now, reached her again.

{ I am Locus, a dragon of the cosmos. }

He had turned his head again, both icy eyes staring at her down the curve of his snout. They looked straight into her core, and she knew, that he knew, what she was about to do. Her hand rubbed against the flat stone in her palm again, she watched as sadness flooded the dragon’s eyes, before darkness and pressure winked out her vision again.

Once again just as she was about to cry out, she opened her eyes to be back on the street.
Several hours had seemed to have passed even though she had only been with the dragon for maybe ten minutes. “What on earth…” She said aloud, looking around carefully for any large scale-y beasts, but she saw nothing. She tucked the stone carefully in her pocket, being delicate not to touch the rough markings on its backside. She still had yet to identify what they were exactly but, she would save it for later.

_____________________

Several hours later, Wild lay wide awake in her bed, staring at the ceiling.
She was a fool, why did she run away? Locus had said he needed help and she had simply panicked. What kind of help would she be if all should could do was cower and run?
She was overrun with her thoughts and at first did not noticed the pocket of her jacket, hanging on the back of her bedroom door, was glowing a pale blue colour.

Finally taking notice of the ethereal glow, she sat straight up. “How many times am I going to say WHAT today? Honestly!!” She carefully tiptoed out of her bed, sticking a hand into the pocket, fingers wrapping around the flat stone. “Of course.” She murmured under her breath, drawing her hand back out with utmost care.

Being careful not to touch the rough markings, she flipped the stone over.
The flat black rock had three scratches running down the back of it, looking as if something had ripped into the object itself. The unnatural thing about it, was that the scratches were glowing with the same icy colour of the dragon’s eyes.

“Locus” She whispered. Wild hesitated a moment, feeling on the precipice of something huge. She put the stone gently on her bed, running to her closest to change into more winter savvy apparel. She’d help him. She needed time to mull it over but she’d help him. She returned with a thick hooded sweater, fleece lined leggings, heavy hiking boots and a couple trail mix bars.

She all but lunged for the stone, watching as it glowed with vigour as her thumb brushed over the markings. Her world went dim, but this time she was ready, the pressure seemed a test, something she gladly accepted, and suddenly it was gone. She tucked the stone into her sweater pocket, looking around brightly for the dragon she would presume to call her friend.

Except she was not in the tundra anymore, looking around, Wild realized once again, she had no idea where she was. Large, debilitated stone structures stood around her in a ring. Some appeared like old stone monuments, praising what she had no idea. The area seemed to be sacred of some sort, but maybe not recently. Puzzlement clouded her mind, before a sharp wind brought her attention back to the fact she had no idea where she was.

“Locus?” She called out hesitantly, hoping the dragon was nearby.

Alterar

"You must go home." Alterar said gently, nudging the young woman's sleeping form. His wing had grown tired from holding it over her body, and the snow had begun forming small drifts alongside his body. The large beast had allowed her to doze off for little more than a dozen minutes, but he knew that a few minutes here could be an hour in the human realm.

He could see Liefhe snuggle closer against his warmth, and Alterar nudged her with his large snout. "It's time to wake up, Liefhe." The dragon said gruffly.

Liefhe

She woke with a start, shivering lightly in the cold air. The woman was startled to see the bright silver eyes glancing daringly into her face. Liefhe stood now, legs shaking as they regained feeling.

"You must leave."

"Right." She said quietly. "You're right." Liefhe reached up, hugging Alterar's large snout against her face, giving him a few short pats on his cheek. Then she reached into her pocket, pulling out the pulsing crystal.

She rubbed her thumb over the mark engraved over the hard surface, felt the familiar tug, and then everything went dark.

Ava was still on the ground where she'd stumbled when Ator landed. The beats of his wings created a warm breeze. He'd looked large to start with but as he descended, she realized he was a lot bigger than she'd thought.

Squeezing her eyes shut, she began to mutter, "it's just a dream. It's just a dream."

A deep chuckle echoed in her head. This isn't a dream, though I suppose this must be shocking for you.

She heard the beast land. He had decided to keep his distance to try and not scare her, but it wasn't working.

Was it talking to her? Ava opened her eyes and saw the large beast tilting its head to the side curiously like a large dog.

"W-what?"

The girl jumped to her feet, nervously rubbing the dirt off her leggings.

Don't worry. I know you're not food, the dragon said lightly, hearing the increased heart rate.

Her throat felt swollen, and she couldn't get words out.

The stone. Could it have? It made no sense, but Ava's eyes searched the ground hurriedly for it. Spotting it not two feet from her, she dove for it.

Now wait a minute, I haven't even introduced myself, the dragon said. She could feel his huffy annoyance in her head.

She felt the ground shake as he stepped forward, and squeezing her eyes shut, she ran her fingers along the weird scratches on the back and suddenly she felt herself lifting.

The familiar smell of horses hit her before the darkness faded. She'd landed in the barn.

With hardly any time to process, she heard a voice calling out for her.

"Ava!"

Tyler came around the corner, leading Skittles behind him.

"Where have you been?"

She didn't answer, she still couldn't find her voice.

"You missed dinner."

How had she missed dinner? She hadn't been gone more than a half hour.

"I found Skittles out near the tree line and there was no sign of you. I was so worried."

She wanted to say, 'I'm fine,' but the words still wouldn't come out. Instead she shrugged.

"Really?"

There was the annoyance.

"Nothing to say?"

He clenched his jaw, like he often did when he was aggravated, and handed her Skittle's reins before stomping out of the barn.

She led Skittles into his stall, and gave him a quick pat before shutting the door behind him.

Her mind was a flurry of questions. Had that actually happened? What was going on? Was she that severely sleep deprived?

The stone had landed on a bale of hay, and despite everything telling her not to, she reached for it again.

Her anxiety increased, but before she could chicken out, she ran her fingers along the scratches again. And for the third time that day, she felt herself being lifted.

This time when she landed, she wasn't in a forest like before. Stone monuments. The biggest difference? No dragon. Quizzically, she looked around before spotting another girl.

The girl appeared to be searching for something, or someone. Ava swallowed nervously. Maybe she had answers?

"Hello?" she called out to the girl having finally found her voice.

The dragon rumbles in amusement.
I am Lif, a dragon. Who are you?
Lif starts to get closer to Alyssa.
Alyssa's eyes widen as she really takes in the moment. This dragon- no, Lif- lives underground? What did the stone do to her to cause such mad thoughts?
"Am I going crazy? I still don't know where I am."
Lif gets nearer to Alyssa.
The stone takes you to the realm of dragons.
Lif is now close enough for Alyssa to touch her scales.
Alyssa is frightened that she's doing the wrong thing, but she slowly creeps her hand forward to touch the scales. They are surprisingly cool and smooth, which is unexpected. She spots small bits of plants growing between each of the scales, which she attempts to ask about.
"What are those plants in your scales?"
Alyssa is awkwardly asking the dragon. She is quite curious, however, as to what the dragon can do.
Those are my favorite plants. I can grow plants anywhere I wish, as long as I touch dirt or soil.
So this wasn't a normal dragon after all...
"So you can't breathe fire?"
That is a correct assumption.

Sitting back on her heels Morrigan groaned and rubbed her head. "This is not happening. I must have fell over and hit my head and now I'm unconscious and dreaming."

There was a very real and audible snort. Oh I assure you, this is is all very real.

Turning to face the sound Morrigan saw something large and dark curled around one of the larger rock piles. Pale gold eyes gazed at her from face that could only be called draconic.

"Oh. My. Gods. Nope. Nope. Nope." Morrigan shook her head vigorously.

A great gusty sigh came from the dragon. Are you quite done yet?

Morrigan's head snapped back up and she glared at the dragon. "No, no I'm not. I will 'done' when I'm good and ready. I have to process not only being transported to somewhere that's not Earth, I also have a bloody huge dragon speaking to me in my head. There's only so far my belief can stretch all at once."

A deep rumbling chuckle emerged from the dragon's mouth. Oh, you're a little spitfire aren't you? At least I won't be stuck with some wilting pansy for a companion. The voice in her head sounded amused and Morrigan couldn't help but glare harder at the beast.

I'm known as Sigil.

"Morrigan." Morrigan stood, brushing dirt off her pants. She took a few steps closer to the dragon, Sigil. "What do you mean by companion?"

We have much to discuss, Morrigan.

The dragon felt a tightness in the air when the girl returned, it was brief for she was far away, but he felt her return. It had only been a handful of minutes for him, but he knew how the dimensions worked, they did not pass the same in time for the girl, of that he was certain.

The great dragon shifted his bulk, pulling his legs under him before pushing up from the ground. The sun was just starting to rise in the far East, he was several hours flight away from the Sacral Grounds which is where he was positive she had shown up again, if the magics worked the way they were supposed to. The glimmer of his night body was just starting to fade as he unfurled the membranes of his wings, pushing hard against the ground to take flight. He circled once, stretching his muscles as much as he could, before banking towards the south, distant mountains just starting to glow from the morning sun.

Wild nearly jumped from her skin as a voice behind answered her pleas to the dragon, she spun around immediately in a defensive position. A girl stood almost exactly where she herself had appeared, looking equally as bewildered as she was.

“Who are you?” She called, her voice breaking near the end, giving away her apprehension and fear at this uncomfortable situation. She gave herself a mental shake, and steeled herself to try again. This time she took a cautious step towards the girl, her voice not wavering.

“How did you get here? Do you know where we are?” She stared with what she tried to hope was an intense gaze, but then decided maybe intimidation wasn’t the best option in a place she didn’t know with people who could just pop into existence.

Luke

The thick snow bit through Luke's jeans, sinking icy fangs into his skin. His body begged him to go inside, maybe make a nice cup of hot chocolate and curl up by the fire. A snowball to the back shoved the desire out and replaced it with guilt as his friend Foster giggled at his hit target. Luke silently scolded himself. Was he really thinking about going inside when he should be thinking about his friends? After a year of separation, the three pals had finally confirmed a date to get back together for some fun and all he could think about was himself. The guilt picked at his brain, placing thoughts that he knew weren't real but bothered him anyway.

"Lue! Hey Luke, you ok? Geez Foster! How hard did you throw that thing?" Stella's motherly concern guided him back to reality. Luke hadn't even realized that she was already checking him for bruises.
"Yeah, sorry. I was just thinking about how we picked the perfect day to catch up," he said, playful pushing Stella's hands away. "I mean, I can't remember the last time we've all had a snow day together!"

Foster brushed a strand of blonde hair out of his face and giggled. "You don't? Fourth or fifth grade I think. It was the day that we went to the ice skating rink and Stella's old crush was there!" Luke laughed as the memory started to come back.

"That's right! Oh gosh, that was good times right there." The two boys laughed and after a moment Stella couldn't help but join in.

"Hey! We all agreed to never talk about that day! And it was seventh grade." She managed through her laughter. "I still can't believe you pushed me out into the middle of the rink! Well, I can believe Foster doing it, but you helping, Lue? I thought we were friends!" They all held their aching sides, dying from laughter. Luke couldn't stop smiling at his two pals. He found that he wasn't as cold any more.

"Oh hey Luke!" An all to familiar voice taunted Luke's ears. He could see by Stella and Foster's expression that it was exactly who he thought it was, even before he turned around to confirm it. Sure enough, Abria and her clique advanced towards them. Dominance radiated from them and with each step closer, Luke felt himself get smaller and smaller. When the clique yielded to a stop, the two groups stood at a stalemate. Stella was the first to speak up.

"What do you want?" Her tone didn't even try to mask her annoyance, eyes blazing with hatred. Abria smirked, unaffected by the girl's confidence.

"Calm yourself Ginger, all I want is some help from Lue here." Luke hated how the nickname given to him by his friends instantly sounded contaminated when it came out of her mouth. Stella's face reddened with anger. She opened up with mouth to speak, but Foster put a hand on her shoulder and shook his head.

"She's not worth it. Let's go guys." The three turned to leave. Abria wasn't finished though, nor would she be ignored.

"Wow Foster, do you always have to calm your girlfriend down?" This time it was Foster's turn to redden and Luke was surprised the snow didn't melt despite the fact that his friend's face appeared to be burning. Whipping around, Foster's eyes flashed violently. Stella and Luke held him back as he went into a raging fit.

"You know she's not my girlfriend you little-"

"Alright Abria, enough. What do you want my help with?" Luke interrupted. The last thing he wanted to do was help her, but maybe if he did she would leave them alone.

"Aw, thanks! I knew I could count on you! There's something stuck in the rain gutter thing. My dad and Mom aren't home and they won't be for a while. Plus you're free."

"Yeah... no problem. I'll do it later. Let's go." He shoved his hands into his pockets and hurried off, Foster and Stella quickly following. They walked in silence as they made their way to the park's small lake. Despite the snow, the trio sat on a bench and stared at the frozen sheet of ice that glistened in the afternoon sun.

For the second time, Stella broke the silence, "Lue? Do you want us to give you some space? We won't be offended." A small wave of relief washed over him. He gave a small nod and continue to stare straight even after they left. Once sure they were gone, Luke let out a sigh. He had done it again, even though he knew the consequences. He hated being a pushover, but at least it got him out of problems faster than arguing or fighting.

As he was thinking to himself, something tugged at his attention. His eyes caught an odd shaped object. Instinctively, his hand reached out and picked it up. It appeared to be a black glass shard of some nature. An interesting texture caused the boy to turn it over, revealing three jagged scratches. Luke became less and less aware to the increasing warmth that had started to grow around him. As if he was under a spell, he rubbed the scratches with a thumb. Then everything went black.

OOC:
Ok, I'm going to apologize now because I did not intend for it to be this long. It just sort of happened. Also, it's very late here (1:02 am) and I'm extremely tired so I'll either update/edit this post or make a separate reply to add Luke's arrival and Fritix. Again sorry, but my eyelids feel like a hundred pounds and I would rather the rest of my story to be thought out and to have effort put into it rather than my tiredness get the best of me and write sloppy. Plus I don't want to get cranky. Good night! 😊

"Are we close, Vo?" Katella asked, wiping sweat from her brow.

The uneven ground was difficult to navigate on her crutches, making a difficult journey all the more challenging. The great dragon turned around, already a good distance ahead of her.

"My apologies, child. I had forgotten your injury." he said, walking back towards her. "We still have a ways to go... Would you like for me to carry you?"

Katella eyed him, unsure. She wasn't entirely certain that she trusted the dragon yet, but she knew she couldn't walk much further, and she certainly did not want to be left behind in this strange land.

She approached Vokunsesah, who lowered himself so that she could climb on his back. Holding her crutches tightly, she sat down and immediately felt a strange chill run down her spine. She could feel the dragon also shifting under her.

"What was that, Vo?" she asked.

"Truthfully, I do not know, child. Hopefully we can find a wiser dragon at the Sacral Grounds who could answer our questions..."

"You have questions as well?"

"I must be honest with you, child... It was not I who called you here..." he said, walking forward so gracefully that Katella did not fear falling off. "To call out to a human is an ancient magic that I, as young as I am, have not yet mastered... The one at Dragon's Rest was the one who called to you... he feared that you would be called here even though he perished, so he asked me to wait, and bring you to the Sacral Grounds... Evidently, he was correct..."

"He died?" she asked.

"Indeed... And yet you were still drawn to him... There are dragons far older and wiser than I at the Sacral Grounds... Hopefully, they will know what to do..."
