Starpets

What exactly are 'Starpets'?

I've seen a few around and have came across users who collect them. What exactly are they? Are they rare?

If so, please elaborate..

I can't bear to wait.
I'm wondering this thought as a dog cleans his plate.

As stated in the FAQ

"What is the star icon () I see on certain creatures?

Star creatures are extremely rare and receive a daily stats boost for their evolution stat, in addition to slowed hunger (of up to a 1/3 slower). You can receive Star creatures from the Cave randomly (this is extremely rare) or use the Star Potion in the Cash Shop Park on your creature."
