Can cave critters be human or do they have to be animals/creatures?

I don't like humanoid creatures, I want a pet, not human.

The only compromise I made so far was Sirena, because she's more a cat to me. Feline mermaid.
Didn't plan to get December CSPs, exactly because they're more human than anything else. Still don't plan to.

There were some Cave monthlies (or were these CRWs?) that were humanoid, like Zanaize. Have no interest in those ones.
