Thief Shop Stories

Story 1-?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First Thief Shop creature I've ever purchased and it was successful!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Beginner's Luck
By @pitch1226

You causally walk into the Thief Shop. You don't expect to see anything, but it wouldn't hurt to try. This time, however, you are greeted by the sight of a lone egg on the counter, guarded by the shopkeeper. Your excitement causes you to only know the price range was in the 400,000s.

Frantically shoving your hands into your pockets, you realized you don't have enough money to match the price! Racing home, you grab a wad of cash and sprint back to the shop praying that the egg is still there. You dash up to the counter and slam the money down, but keep your hand on it.

All of a sudden, doubts are popping up in your mind. What if it's fake? Someone would come and claim it soon though...

Taking your hand off, the shopkeeper takes the money and places the egg in front of you. It sits there for a moment, but then starts to shake and hatch. The shell cracks open to reveal a small creature that squeals with hunger. A big smile spreads across your face as you gently pick it up.

Thanking the shopkeeper, you head out with your new creature. Perhaps you'll come next time while your luck lasts, but you will always have doubts about the place.

--------

This is my first time doing one of these so sorry if this isn't how it's supposed to be! Most of it is accurate, for example having to go get more money, almost not buying it, and not looking at the exact price. Other parts I had to fill in, like what happened when I purchased it. I just saw it said successful and was too excited to see what creature it was to read what happened, which I really regret. I wish there was a log that recorded it, but really it's my own fault for not taking the time to read it and being impatient. Oh well. At least next time I know! 😉

Ok... So I found out that's not how you're supposed to do it, but I liked writing the other one so I'm going to continue to do it my way. I'll include the original too though. 😊 Also, I'll keep adding any failed attempts onto this profile until I get another successful egg. Then I'll move to that profile. 😃

You pay the shopkeeper 483,962 EC and receive your Mystery Egg.

The shopkeeper pulls out a high-powered, red heat lamp and places your mystery egg beneath it. You think it's supposed to help the egg hatch quicker.

You wait a bit longer for the egg to hatch. It opens. Much to your surprise, it appears to be an unfertilized egg. You get upset with the shopkeeper and feel gipped out of the deal.

You consider coming back in the future to see if another egg hatches successfully but you have your doubts about this place.

Should've Know It Wouldn't Last
By @pitch1226

The watch on your wrist ticks by like it has been for what seems like an hour. Ever since your first trip to the Thief Shop, over flowing confidence in your luck possessed you to stalk the shady business and check to see if anymore eggs were in stock. After getting annoyed by having to make the trip repeatedly, you found yourself just sitting and waiting inside the shop.

Sighing, the war between boredom and determination appeared to be coming to a close as doubt crept onto the battle field, and your eyes skeptically glanced at the counter. You grumble as you turn away from the black egg on the counter. Suddenly, you freeze.

Whipping your head back, a smile instantly replaces your frown. Although annoyance generated from the fact that the shopkeeper hadn't told you there was an egg, you settle on letting it slide and to quickly buy it. Your adrenaline decides to run a marathon while you yank the 483,962 EC from your pocket that you had prepared, eager not to make the same mistake as last time. Leaning on the counter and putting on what you hope is a cool and chill smile, you place the money in the shopkeeper's hand and confidently point to the egg. Memories of the last time you purchased an egg resurfaced and a goofy, and what you assumed was probably slightly disturbing, grin appeared on your face.

The shopkeeper slowly turned away, but shrugged and returned with a lamp. After placing the egg beneath it you intensely stare at the egg, ignoring the doovoo's uncomfortable expression. The egg hatched and the grin on your face only stays from shock. Snapping back to reality, disappointment sinks in as you realize the egg was unfertilized. Glaring at the shopkeeper, a few words that shall not be repeated are spoken and you storm out.

Wishing your luck had stayed, you aim another glare at the Thief Shop as you stomp away. Although you consider coming back, a feeling of déjà vu looms over as thoughts of doubts about the place cloud your mind. Besides, you doubt the shopkeeper would appreciate another visit from you for a while.

About Gamaeso Eggs

Gamaeso eggs need to be kept buried in hot sand in order for them to incubate properly. If the egg becomes to cold the Gamaeso will die.

About the Gamaeso Creature

Young Gamaeso are very skittish and shy creatures. When a young Gamaeso hears someone approach it hides itself under something, usually sand but things like leaf piles and pillows are not unheard of. Gamaesos begin to outgrow this shyness after about a year. By the time a Gamaeso becomes an adult it has shed its shyness completely and become very outgoing.

Adult Gamaesos are actually very graceful and move with almost dance-like movements. Even though they share their cousin, the Lemac's, ability to travel long distances without tiring many use Gamaeso for more decorative purposes, like parades.
