Studious, determined, easily tired

"...Yes? What can I do for you?"

•ﻌ•

You approach the counter with a tray in your hands, wincing at the thunderous clanging of pots and pans echoed throughout the canteen. The Alkub, possessing a distinct lack of opposable thumbs, paws at the scattered curry on the ground with a sardonic smile. "Not sure why they thought I should be the head chef," she laughed, "but I can't make anything vegetarian."

You ask her why. She looks up from the mess and holds your gaze. In her younger years she was a backup runner for the All Kubs Track and Field, and that slightly crazed runners high still lingered behind those tired eyes.

"I don't make anything I can't eat," she responds simply. You look around at the livestock hanging by the hooks. The food looked cold. You ask for a menu.

"This is a canteen. There are no menus, but here are today's options." She gestures to a sign above, crammed with a tight, almost illegible scrawl.

About Alkub Eggs

Alkub eggs were once thought to be the only ones on Ark that made a sound. If you put your ear up to an Alkub egg and listen very carefully, you can hear the purring sound of the baby Alkub. The sad part is, once the Alkub is hatched, that purring noise is extremely annoying until it's fully matured as an adult.

About the Alkub Creature

Alkub are the most gentle beast in Ark. They are frequently found roaming in the Northern Plains, near the entrance of the Egg Cave. Baby Alkub have a very annoying growling and purring sound, but a fully mature Alkub is a force to be reckoned with.
