Waurolrus eggs are laid in small clusters upon ice floes, where several females of the species will then tirelessly keep watch to protect them. The captivating pattern of these eggs resemble that of the northern lights phenomena.
Waurolruses are commonly described as being intelligent, social, and very heavy. Their stoutness makes them clumsy on land, but they move rather gracefully underwater while foraging for food. The species used to be more widespread prior to human activity, although recent creature conservation laws have since helped to rebound the population.
