Tartruff eggs are a special mushroom egg that grow underground; only other Tartruffs can smell and find them. Don't expect to find one out in the open on the floor of the Cave!
Once a Tartruff has evolved into an adult, it has developed a good enough sense of smell to find and dig up other Tartruff eggs that are growing underground. A Tartruff must be dug up in order to hatch. Once it has been dug up, it hatches shortly after.
In addition, Tartruffs are responsible for digging up the truffles that are used in high-end farm-to-restaurants in Ark City. Next time you're having a delicious meal involving truffles, you have a Tartruff to thank!
