The Xemme egg embodies the duality of the Island—fire from The Volcano and water from the nearby Ocean.
Representing both forces that fashioned the Island, the Xemme is a twin-spirit being. Rather than battling the other side of themselves, the Xemme exists in harmony and allows its polar opposite to "charge up" to bring about a natural event that favors that side. In general, the Xemme is remarkably fair and equally distributed when water- and fire-based events are counted on a yearly basis across Ark.
