About Genna Eggs

This egg already appears to be opening... and it looks similar to the stunning Birds of Paradise flower.

About the Genna Creature

An evergreen perennial, the Genna is widely cultivated for its dramatic flowers. In temperate areas it is a popular houseplant. The Genna can grow up to 2 meters high with large, strong leaves that arrange themselves into two ranks, making a fan-shaped crown. The hard, beak-like sheath from which the flower emerges is called the spathe. This is perpendicular to the stem, which gives it the appearance of a bird's head and beak. It makes a durable perch for holding other birds that pollinate the flowers.

In areas with cold winters it is normally grown under glass, in a cool sunny position such as a greenhouse or conservatory, as it tolerates only light frosts.

Genna birds are not equipped to survive in the wild, and must be kept as pets.
