Quanna eggs aren't true eggs but are larval polyps that can be found attached rocks or other hard surfaces in Ark's ocean.
Once the polyp stage of the Quanna grows large enough it detaches itself and begins to float freely. This is when the Quanna develops is signature bioluminescence. Quannas mainly use their lights to attract prey. It appears that the lights can also be used to communicate with other Quannas as they can be seen flashing when Quannas gather together.
