After a glowing Elderbark stone is buried in the ground, a new creature sprouts and begins walking the island. Young Elderbarks are first and foremost students, who must learn the ancient history and tales of the Forest. It is not until they have studied for years before they begin to cast their magic.
Elderbark magic and spells are defensive in nature and based around the idea of disarming the attacker and wrongdoer. It is rare that they will actually lash out and cause harm to other living things... it's really only the harm you do to yourself that you must be cautious about.
