Xeruna eggs coalesce out of moonlight, ambient magic, and the collective lifeforce of healthy forests.
When a Xeruna manifests it is tied to the forest that created it. They are literal manifestations of the land's spirit and lifeforce and will guard the home that spawned them using various magical means. There is no cap to the amount of Xerunas that an area can manifest. Some small but particularly sacred or magical groves can have a dozen Xeruna tending to its wellbeing and driving away those that would do it harm, while there may only be a single Xeruna safeguarding a massive forest.
