The first CDWC Entry I’ve ever entered. Super proud of myself for having the guts to write and submit it. I think I did a great job for it being my first time!

Egg Description

This soft, feathery egg has a tiny raincloud on it. Perhaps you must keep it wet in order to hatch?

Quackadew eggs can be found near ponds and puddles during a rainstorm. Don't touch the raincloud! It will become part of them and grow with them once they hatch. Both egg and creature rely on the special rainwater from it at all times, or else they will dry out and die.

Hatched Creature Description

Quackadew are mellow and friendly birds who enjoy their relaxation. They are one of the few creatures who are not
inconvenienced by stormy weather, in fact they thrive in it and prefer it. During a rainy day, you'll oftentimes find groups of them having a nap in a puddle rather than splashing around in them. On sunny days they use their leafy tail to block out the bright sun, allowing them to continue lounging peacefully.

Studies from the SARC have found that the rain produced by Quackadew rainclouds provides nutritional benefits for plants. The plants that are watered by this rain tend to grow 25% faster, are more plentiful and stay fresh and vibrant for a longer period of time. It is common for Arkians who have a farm or garden to keep these creatures as pets because of this. However, if you're thinking about getting a Quackadew of your own, make sure you have an outdoor area for them to stay unless you want your home to get soaked!

About Nimbeak Eggs

Initially, Nimbeak eggs were thought to move randomly without a destination in mind; however, they tumble with intent toward darkening clouds and roll with more enthusiasm based on the storm's eventual intensity. The routes travelled by these eggs are often marked with tiny water droplets, which are always present on the top of Nimbeak eggs. A leaf also protrudes outwards from these eggs, further enabling unhatched Nimbeaks to express themselves.

About the Nimbeak Creature

Nimbeaks are a spry species seeking to aid those caught in the middle of devastating weather. With two determined webbed feet, a pair of swift wings, these cheerful and reassuring guides navigate through torrential downpour and gale-force winds to lead individuals to safety. The Science and Research Center in Ark City has recommended that, if anyone is lost in severe weather, to look out for a trail of water droplets to find and ask for a Nimbeak's assistance.

When storms are not brewing, Nimbeaks love to chat and lend a listening ear. They are also quite adamant in ensuring those around them have had sufficient water intake, and may furiously quack while shaking their leaves filled with water to individuals who repeatedly put off drinking water.
