Estrella the Guinstar

She walks slowly, clumsily, webbed feet shuffling across the frozen ground, eyes trained on the stars. She is counting, tracing, focusing intensely on the clusters of light and blurring her vision until they are nothing but bright smudges on the dark canvas of the winter sky. She doesn't hear her name being called, doesn't feel the growing chill and darkness left by her faster companions. She sees only the stars, needs only their constant watchful gazes.
