When I date, the first question is usually what are you looking for?

In a perfect world I would want someone that's kind, compassionate, works at making the world a better place, builds community, and can land dark (not offensive) humor. Funny gets me every time. But I also want someone who wants kids. Someone who wants kids so bad that they're willing to have them alone, independently from me. In a world where dating apps are mainly about physical connection, it's hard to find.

When I get approached, I'm pretty quick to decide that they aren't for me. Sometimes it's fun to get to know someone and find their value. But it sizzles out quick and then I feel better off alone again. Sometimes I'm just much more comfortable in my solitude. I think maybe what I'm really looking for is mentors and mentees.

I'm also a sucker for green eyes, olive tanned skin, and curls in his hair. But those aren't the qualities that make a good partner. Where the hell is my husband? What the hell is taking him so long? I love that song.
