Gentle, kind, motherly

"I want to paint the grass with the story of the sky."

~♡~

The library was immense. It seemed like everything was repurposed into a shelf; the stairs, the desk, the tables. Every bit of available space was crammed with books, manuscripts, and paper. Surprisingly, there was even something more modern; a computer, off in it's own corner of the massive room. The monitor was turned off, but in the heavy silence you could hear the slight humming.

As you wandered the halls, you hear shuffling in one of the rooms. It seemed to be an office of sorts. A Yazan was curled up under a lamp, carefully writing on a scroll. She carefully guided her tail to precisely print every letter on the page. They were written so tightly she wore a monocle to be able to read it.
You ask her what she was doing.

"I'm compiling the history of this island. Would you like to hear about it?"
You nod.

"This place is called the Myria Cove. Off the shores of Ark, this island is home to many outcasts, either lost to sea or chased out of their respective homes where no where else to live. Many of us are the only one of our kind on this island, and other times there are very few of us left. But this island gives us a home, food, and a family we can call our own."

She said all this without looking up from her work.

"There is no shortage of newcomers. Sometimes they wash on shore as eggs and only know of Myria's lush fields and clear waters. Newcomers like to bring a piece of Ark with them; gadgets or trinkets or magic spells. We get a huge variety of creatures and personalities, all of us need to learn how to work together."

You ask if this island is ever in danger of being destroyed.

"Well...once or twice. They were strong personalities but we were able to calm them down enough to continue to live peacefully." She finally peers up at you curiously. "

What do you think of this place?

You tell her you enjoy it. She smiles and continues to work.

About Yazan Eggs

Yazan eggs must be stored in a dark space below room temperature in order to preserve the valued ink found swimming beneath the first few exterior layers of the eggs surface. Too much handling can cause damage to the purity of the ink and ultimately destroy the creature found inside. When the egg is almost completely black in color, it will be ready to hatch.

About the Yazan Creature

Legend tells that the Yazans are the storytellers of the great world of Ark. They live deep within the earth's surface to provide themselves with the serenity they need in order to write the various tales of Ark's many creatures. The ink required to write such tales courses through their veins and deposits a droplet every few seconds into the feather-like fur found at the tip of their tails.

The magic found in the ink is very strong, and sometimes a very rare few of these creatures have found themselves blinded, eyes turning black as coal, overcome by the ink inside them. These particular Yazans depend solely on the strength of their minds and their tails to write the stories before them.

The stories of old found in the Archives are rumored to be authored by the Yazans themselves.
