The Knurrock egg is confusing to those who have never stumbled across such a creature. It is laid in a burrow that a mature Knurrock creates on the night of Halloween. If for some reason the egg is left out in the open you can observe the egg in its entire strange, green beauty.
Anatomically, the Knurrock's egg is well developed. A pair of ears, that are part of the creature's future head, are actually aware of its surroundings. Sounds can be picked up that let the egg know of any immediate nearby threats. This is one of the Knurrock's special adaptations: if the egg hears danger, it begins to vibrate. These vibrations are picked up by its parent Knurrock so that the egg can be protected.
The parent Knurrock will often place a candy of their choice on their egg so that when the egg hatches the baby Knurrock has something to feast upon. This, in fact, is a very important moment of the young Knurrock's life. The candy that it first eats once hatched acts is imprinted on its mind. From that day onward, it is that specific candy that the baby Knurrock will hunt for, steal, and eat on Halloween.
It is of the utmost importance that you do not disturb an incubating Knurrock egg. It must be left untouched and unmoved. Its parent will always be watching or sleeping nearby. If you touch the egg, the parent will abandon it. If you know that the parent Knurrock has abandoned the egg, use gloves coated in a sweet substance like honey or powdered sugar to handle it. This prevents the egg going into shock and will ensure a successful hatching.
Once hatched, the Knurrock is an odd, feline-looking creature at first glance. It has bright, green fur and is usually seen holding some sort of candy during the trick-or-treating season. Although it is an urban myth, children are told stories of these shy creatures emerging at Halloween sundown, hopping out from green shrubbery or beneath balconies, to find and stash piles of candy in their lairs. Knurrocks possess a unique ability to carry enormous amounts of candy into their cheeks.
During Halloween night, Knurrocks become very active (they are nocturnal creatures). Some individuals have claimed to hear Knurrocks' distinct cries around midnight. It is rumored that these mysterious creatures follow candy-collecting children to their homes and in the dead of night take their bags of candy. Children often blame their parents for the missing candy.
