The spines on Tesson eggs are, in fact, extremely sharp shards of ice. Although touching them with something warm, like your hand, causes them to melt, they can still cut you.
Tesson eggs must be kept below freezing to hatch.
Tessons live in the coldest parts of Ark, and if they become too warm, they melt and die. For this reason, they cannot be kept as pets and must remain in the wild, in their natural habitat where they can survive.
You can temporarily touch their spines, but it will accelerate their melting. For this reason, the best place to touch them is on their bellies. They love all the scritches and scratches they can get, but they must remain wild to thrive.
