Its hollow eyes seem to glow faintly, as if lit from within by an otherworldly energy, and its jaw occasionally clacks together, emitting a haunting, echoing sound that reverberates like a distant wind.
Legends describe the Marilwyd as a guardian of thresholds, capable of crossing between the mortal world and the realm of spirits. It is both mischievous and benevolent, depending on the respect it is shown. The creature often engages in poetic riddles and challenges those it encounters to a battle of wits. If the Marilwyd wins, it is said to bestow blessings upon the household it visits, but if it is bested, it retreats with a reluctant rattle of its skeletal jaw.
