If that artist was mad that it was said to be a user's idea. the user could be equally mad if she didn't get credit for it.
Meteoroid • 1 Jan 2013, 4:04 PM
User suggestions are nice, but it is also very unfair to the artists and Ian if they cannot come up with their own ideas.
Meteoroid • 1 Jan 2013, 4:08 PM
@piucca The Squinton was pure coincidence and was not 'stolen' from a user's idea. The user was credited since it was a closer resemblance.
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:09 PM
@Meteoroid How is it unfair? Users are suggestion and not being paid. Aren't the artists being paid to do this? They should come up
Meteoroid • 1 Jan 2013, 4:11 PM
@piucca A jellyfish, though, is very broad and nonspecific. It's just a jellyfish.
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:11 PM
something someone else didn't suggest yet. It's like we're giving Ian free ideas and artists are asking for money for the same idea?
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:12 PM
But then again They are the one to actually make the creature. and they should be paid for that part of the work.
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:13 PM
@Meteoroid I agree 😋 It's nice that we can suggest things, but the site's creator and its artists deserve to create things as well.
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:15 PM
@Daikrai Right on your previous post, post before, how do you know that they didn't also come up with that? Perhaps the artist didn't--
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:16 PM
--know it had already been suggested when they made it. They could have easily come up with it on their own as well.
Meteoroid • 1 Jan 2013, 4:16 PM
@daikirai Some users have the idea that if they say "Egg Cave needs an ant creature!" and then next month there is an ant, they need credit.
asi • 1 Jan 2013, 4:18 PM
Personally I don't see why it matters whether the idea comes from the head of someone who draws the pets for Eggcave or not! These pets seem
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:22 PM
@Meteoroid Well that way is unfair and doesn't make sense to me. People should only get credit if they took the time to design one.
asi • 1 Jan 2013, 4:23 PM
just as nice as any others 😋 What are you guys actually complaining about? >w< That they aren't making your ideas? ^^"
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:23 PM
@whitefire Yes I know they didn't see each others ideas so I'm saying they should both be getting credit not just one person.-
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:25 PM
I dont want to accused the artist of stealing a user's idea. and the user couldn't have took that artist's idea since we can't see any of it
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:27 PM
The user actually designed it and it looked alot like the squinton.
glados • 1 Jan 2013, 4:28 PM
I don't suspect any cases where the artwork was stolen. In some sense, I think that a user should be credited if they take some time to
glados • 1 Jan 2013, 4:29 PM
draw up and design a creature. I dunno, that's just me. Just because you list something as a creature you'd want on the site... that didn't
necessarily take much thinking up in the first place. 😋 I also find it cooler to see what people think up. xD
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:31 PM
@Daikrai Right, but if the Squinton itself actually came from the artist's mind, then the user doesn't deserve credit because the artist--
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:33 PM
--came up with the concept that actually became the creature. How do you think the artist would feel if another user was also given--
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:34 PM
--credit for their idea? After all, just because a user came up with a similar creature doesn't mean that it was the base for what--
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:34 PM
@whitefire Well if Ian gave the user the credit too it must mean he saw both suggestions and decided to make it into a creature.
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:35 PM
--actually came to be. I would certainly be upset if another user got credit for MY idea just because our ideas were similar. And your--
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:36 PM
--earlier comment about payment (that WAS you, wasn't it? I didn't get you mixed up?), well you would say that we deserve payment for--
Meteoroid • 1 Jan 2013, 4:36 PM
@daikirai The Squinton was given credit after a user complained that her idea looked similar to it. Ian or the artist did not know.
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:37 PM
--creating a creature when the true payment comes from being here and getting it made. And did Ian give the user credit? I'm sorry, I--
--erp, never mind. *Pokes Meteoroid's comment*
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:41 PM
@whitefire I'm not entirely sure of how this works but Artists are just here to draw for eggcave. They should get paid for the actual art,
lucky_cricket • 1 Jan 2013, 4:42 PM
*dies* I love these!!
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:42 PM
but when they are suggestion something it should be an extra part of the job and they should be viewed as any other person on this site.
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:43 PM
Their Chances of getting a creature made should not be higher than any of of us. It should depend on the creativity of the suggestion.
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:45 PM
Someone might have good drawing skills but their ideas aren't always good. If they are also being paid to suggest things I don't think -
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:45 PM
@Daikrai *Changes mind* I think they ARE only paid for drawing, not suggesting. And I don't think their chances of suggestions being--
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:46 PM
they should be asking for much. since Ian also has many people suggesting stuff for free. This is what I'm trying to say.
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:46 PM
--are any higher than ours, but it depends of popular demand. And the past few months we've had mostly user-suggested creatures, as far--
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:47 PM
Well we don't really know how Ian does things This is his site and if someone doesn't like the way things run they can leave.
Meteoroid • 1 Jan 2013, 4:48 PM
@daikirai They are being paid to create creatures for Egg Cave. This website is not at all obligated to take creature suggestions.
whitefire • 1 Jan 2013, 4:49 PM
--as I've noticed. Then again, I don't "notice" very much. But as I was saying, it depends on popular demand. And as I said above, they--
glados • 1 Jan 2013, 4:49 PM
I bet it's hard work already creating 3+ creatures per month. xD
--deserve to create creatures once in a while, too.
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:50 PM
@Meteoroid Okay. Thanks for the info. But I think users on this site is more important. Without users Ian won't be getting money.
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:51 PM
@whitefire Every one deserves to creature creatures. and everyone should have an equal chance. Whether or not they get picked should be -
Meteoroid • 1 Jan 2013, 4:52 PM
We've had a ton of user suggestions within the past couple months. I'm truly sorry for those offended by the artists making their own stuff.
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:52 PM
based on the quality of the creature suggestion.
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:53 PM
I don't really care much for this topic since I don't have any suggestions but I'm just saying these things for the site to be successful.
Meteoroid • 1 Jan 2013, 4:53 PM
@daikirai Users are important, but user suggestions are not at all the only way creatures are made.
rens87 • 1 Jan 2013, 4:53 PM
I miss the Advent Tree! 😊 (sorry to interrupt your conversation... ;-) )
daikirai • 1 Jan 2013, 4:54 PM
@Meteoroid What would happen if the site were to close down tomorrow? It seems like this site would have to go on forever
