@terid If that happens again you could always try the overnight method. Leave the cave with the egg you want open in another tab/window...
...and then after midnight EC time take the egg and you'll get it. It's how I've gotten a bunch of my creatures.

Well you've got all of October to get one in your first 10 tries. By the end of the month you could probably get one for not much...
