Chiropteran got his name from the scientific name for the order for bats, "Chiroptera," which means "hand wing." Contrary to popular belief, he was not named after the monsters from the anime, Blood+. However, I did like the anime and did see the live-action movie.

It's as if they draw their source of energy from the sun. Battyrus enjoy being alone and hunting large amounts of insects in the jungles of Ark.
