Notes: Collimation is aligning the optical elements of a telescope so that they all point in the proper direction. Most reflectors and compound telescopes require occasional collimation in order to produce the best possible images.

About Astreaven Eggs

Every Astreaven egg actually contains two creatures. The Astreavens within each egg are born into a soul pairing. They are not mates or siblings, but instead they are born into a level of friendship that will last a lifetime. Astreavens age in a cycle that is comparable to that of stars. They go through yellow, blue, red, and supernova phases. Within each egg there is one yellow and one blue Astreaven.

About the Astreaven Creature

The size and brightness of an Astreaven directly corresponds to how short its life will be: the more intense the fire, the more quickly it is consumed!

There are four Astreaven phases or variants: yellow, blue, red, and supernova. Blue is the hottest Astreaven stage, as well as the most volatile and unstable. Yellow is the stable middle and red is the nearly burnt out phase that follows blue. Finally, supernova is the end-of-life phase.

When an Astreaven egg hatches, the two creatures emerge—one yellow and one blue. The blue Astreaven, being larger and less stable, will rapidly evolve from phase to phase. The yellow Astreaven will remain yellow until its death. Within a pairing, the large Astreaven is known to guard and protect its smaller counterpart. However, due to its size and volatility, the larger Astreaven's life ends long before the death of its yellow partner. When a red Astreaven dies, it explodes into starstuff, entering what is called the supernova phase. Yellow Astreavens will absorb and carry stardust of their friend for centuries to come, proving the true devotion and friendship that comes with the Astreaven soul bond.

Astreaven pairings live amongst the stars, appearing to Arkians as "living constellations." Some say that Astreavens have an important lesson to teach humans: not every bond will last an eternity. Some pairings are meant to be fleeting and brief but that doesn't make the bond any less true or meant to be.
