I T S M E  💅🏻

Daily Daisy Fact #7458: I relate to this creature because... I grow my nails out pretty long! And file them into points. ^^ I love and prefer an almond shape; more like a softened stilleto than a straight-up almond, which is usually more round on the edges with a soft point, and a stilleto being very thinned out to a very distinct point.

I've never had my nails done at a salon or had a manicure! I take pride in doing my own nails. I did, however, have a pedicure when I was a kid before my cousin's wedding.

My favorite colors to paint my nails are lavender with a glittery pink top coat, light pink with a glittery pink top coat, or, just the glittery pink top coat on its own. The latter allows for my natural nail to show through, which I absolutely love. I also love mint green, black, and, well, pretty much any and every color on my nails! But I frequent cool-toned light purples the most, and cool-toned light pinks second. Even better with a sparkly top coat. It's just so nice to look at.

I often get asked "how can you do anything with such long nails?!" and it's like... they didn't just become suddenly long! They're my real nails, so they very gradually grow to become long, so, I am always used to them. It's not like popping on a fake nail and you're suddenly "crippled" lol. I don't notice their length. And, as many people will say regarding whatever length their nails are, short or long -- it's what's comfortable for me.

Typing is no problem -- I type 98 WPM on average! Always been a speedy typist. And, my nails are tools! I use them in my work when I've built medical electronics and repairing infusion pumps. They are great for certain makeup techniques. And not to mention they are fantastic back scratchers!! And don't get me started on self-defense. *scratches your eyes out* The only things I'd say they hinder would be playing instruments and clay sculpting. My nails are long and curve down slightly the longer they are, so that can leave indentations and impressions on my clay work (though I just sand after baking) and get in the way for holding down strings on guitar or pressing a piano key or swiping a grace note on chanter / bagpipes. (That said, I'm been seriously contemplating cutting my nails shorter and straight across on my left hand for guitar.)

But what I get asked the most is, "Are those your real nails?" "Are those fake?" "Are those acrylics?" "Where'd you get your nails?" And while it should 1000% be flattering, I can't help but be like :,) cri insied so much lol. But it should be a compliment because it means they look so perfect they must be fake LOL.

Filing my nails is really enjoyable. But really, the whole process of doing my nails! It's (annoyingly lol) a few hours long process. Removing previous nail polish (usually three to four total layers), filing and reshaping, painting a layer then waiting five minutes, then another, then another, then maybe another (example: color, color, sparkle, top coat), and then waiting a few hours for them to cure. Yes, they may be dry on the very outer layer, but they are not "cured" and dried all the way through. Gotta be careful otherwise indentations can be left when you're doing things.

More to come, I could talk forever about this lol.

Thank you for the auction @cryogenics!

About Kakakuona Eggs

Kakakuona eggs are extremely well armored. So much so that predators have largely given up on eating Kakakuona eggs. This also means that the eggs require help when it comes time to hatch. Kakakuona parents will use their large claws to help the hatchling inside crack open their eggs. For humans that want to hatch a Kakakuona there are a variety of classes held that teach the best way to help their new egg hatch.

About the Kakakuona Creature

Kakakuonas are just as well armored as their eggs are, at least on their backs. Because of this predators will, for the most part, leave them alone. Those that do try to attack a Kakakuona have, not only their armored plating to contend with, but their large, sharp claws as well. These claws are not only for defense, they make for great digging tools as well. Kakakuonas live in large underground complexes that they dig out with their sturdy claws.
