•What are seasonal items?
"Seasonal" items are items that are only available at certain times of the year, commonly through in-game events or activities. Just like seasonal creatures! However, since Egg Cave organizes its items differently than it does creatures, there does not yet exist a dedicated "seasonal" category for items. So, most of these items have a rarity of 100 and also have "retired" text next to the item rarity in the Inventory, Strongroom, and other places, despite these items not necessarily being "unobtainable" nor "retired".

•Can seasonal items still retire?
Yes, seasonal items can retire! There is not necessarily a strict pattern or timeline as to when seasonal items will no longer be obtainable, but this guide will attempt to provide details as to when items became obtainable/unobtainable, and will also provide the predicted retirement date following the current trends. However, it must be noted that Ian and the Egg Cave developers have the right to change the pattern or timeline of when items get released or retired, and have done so before.

•How do I know when an item won't be seasonal?
I mean technically you can't know for sure. But, there are certain items where there is no precedent for the item being available again nor is there any conversation or clues that something like that is in the works at the moment. The most notable example is probably the Easter Egg Hunt travels, where they are available as a reward from a seasonal and recurring event, but the items will not be available in a following year. The best answer I can give you is that it is a case-by-case basis, but each case will be discussed in the guide.

details: Currently, every year a new item set is introduced as the prize pool and is retired at the end of the event that same year. From 2015 to 2021, the items would be available as prizes over multiple years. In 2014, as well as from 2022 and onward, the items introduced in the prize pool were limited to that year's event only. It is expected that 2026's items are retired.
