NAME: Apocalypto

Greek Origin, Real Word

** Apocalypto is a greek verb (αποκλύπτω). It means "I uncover", "I disclose", or "I reveal". The noun coming from this verb is αποκαλυψη (apokalipsi) and in english we call it apocalypse. It means the revealing of the description of the "end of days".

** As a result, Mell Gibson decided to use this verb to combine it with apocalypse and used "Apocalypto" as the title of his amazingly epic 2006 film. Gibson has defined the title as "a new beginning or an unveiling – a revelation"; he says "Everything has a beginning and an end, and all civilizations have operated like that".

About the Tokk Creature

Tokks are regarded as creatures gifted in the Dark Arts. Very little is known about the Dark Arts, however, because none of its techniques or strategies have been transcribed; rather, they are passed down generation to generation by verbal teaching. Tokks have also evaded the watch of the Science and Research Center in Ark City, contributing to further suspicion.

Most people keep their distance from Tokks, so as to avoid being cursed.
