Ophiledia eggs can be used as a bulky flashlight prior to reconfiguring themselves into their mobile serpentine stage. Powered by solar energy, the strength of light that an Ophiledia egg emits is directly proportional to how much sunlight it absorbs in one sitting.
The Storticai race devised the Ophiledia as an artificially intelligent light source. Meant to scout out areas ahead of miners, their powerful beam of light is able to completely illuminate pitch-black tunnels. A pale blue light is the default color but they are capable of changing to any conceivable hue if needed.
Ophiledia found their niche on Ark as not only a general household flashlight, but also an automatic spotlight for theater productions in Ark City.
