Origin: Native American
Meaning: “They are killers”

The word Yosemite (derived from yohhe'meti, "they are killers" in Miwok) historically referred to the name that the Miwok gave to the Ahwahneechee, the resident indigenous tribe. Previously, the region had been called "Ahwahnee" ("big mouth") by its only indigenous inhabitants, the Ahwahneechee.[17] The term Yosemite in Miwok is easily confused with a similar term for "grizzly bear", and is still a common misconception.

Yohhe'meti (Southern Miwok) or Yos.s.e'meti (Central Miwok) originally referred to the Indian tribe that lived in Yosemite Valley. Yosemite means literally “those who kill” (Yos, “to kill,” the modifier e, “one who,” and the plural suffix -meti). It was used by the surrounding Miwok tribes. The Yosemite people were referred to as killers by these surrounding tribes, who feared them. The Yosemite tribe, led by Chief Tenaya, were composed of renegades from multiple tribes, including Mono Paiute from the eastern Sierra. The Paiute were traditional enemies of the more-peaceful Miwok people.

About Kernell Eggs

There is something a little off about this egg. It looks as if some black licorice was melted and candy corn was stuck into it to form the protective covering for the creature inside. Maybe whatever is inside loves candy.

About the Kernell Creature

The Kernell loves candy. The more you feed it junk food, the faster it will grow. Honestly though no one really knows what the Kernell is. The SAR Center has come out and said that the makings of the Kernell are a combination of candy corn, licorice, and what might be some type of fire or hot candy. But really it is anyone's guess at this point.

The Kernell is very mischievous, pulling pranks on those around them in order to steal their candy during Halloween. So what out! Keep your candy hidden and not in plain sight when one of these are around. Otherwise if you have one for a pet, you can sleep easy knowing that your candy is safe. You might even find a few extra pieces from your Kernell for being such a great owner!
