Hydrox the Obarn

𝐇𝐲𝖉𝖗𝖔𝖝 is the original creme-filled chocolate sandwich cookie created in 1908. Oreo is the copycat made in 1912. Hydrox debuted in the United States and was manufactured by Sunshine Biscuits for over 90 years. But then, Hydrox was discontinued in 1999, three years after Sunshine was acquired by Keebler, which was later acquired by Kellogg's. Then Kellogg's sold the cookie line to Ferrero. In September 2015, the product was reintroduced by Leaf Brands!

OrEo eventually surpassed Hydrox in popularity. 🙄 This resulted in Hydrox cookies being perceived by many as an imitation of Oreo, despite the opposite being the case! Employees of Oreo would go to stores and hide Hydrox cookies behind Oreos, so that shoppers would only see Oreo and thus only buy Oreo. I guess when you're a copycat and your product isn't as good, you have to continue being a terrible person and lie to make it to the top.

Don't get me wrong, Oreos were great when I was a kid. But they taste like yeep now (though the dark chocolate creme ones are good) and I can't stand the idea stealing they did. Hydrox has a more pure taste and is less sweet, which is my preference. You can eat whichever you want, choose whichever side you want, I don't mind, I just enjoy being able to express my opinions! :-D And also... I do understand Oreo is the one that's readily available. So how could you choose Hydrox? Well, I've ordered them online before, so you could try that if you're curious.

A lot of people say the name is off-putting. I get why, it sounds kinda chemical-ish or maybe like a cleaning product. I think that's why I like it lol. I just think it looks and sounds neat. The name was inspired by "purity and goodness" and was derived from hydrogen and oxygen elements within the water molecule. I think they hit the nail on the head in regard to the cookie's flavor being pure and good, but alas, the general public wants a palatable, marketable, sugar-coated name. 🥴🍼
