Storage Accounts

Okay, I was about to make a storage account when I realized I had a bit of a problem.
You can't visit the cave/meteor on your storage account(s), but yet to sign up, you need to adopt an egg from the cave. Can I make a storage account even if I keep the egg I get at sign-up?
