I'm usually paying between 30K EC and 80K EC for Ookulls. (And I have bought a bunch.) I paid 100,000 in auctions outbidding someone on a date I really wanted; but that's before they knew I'd help them get any other Ookull. We never had another bidding war after I PM'd them.

To get seeds I've been doing the mad scientist, donation disaster, Ominous Doovoo, and stargazing every-time I see them off cool-down. The doovoo takes some, but usually only takes 1-6 and gives 6-11 you don't even have to put a full question. Feeding in bulk also gives a lot.
