No, but once read, they won't appear again. If you get a new one, here will be a popup/yellow bell with # of new notifications next to it. 😱 I think they don't delete them so you can keep a record of some stuff.

You can knock of notifications by clicking on the bell next to your user icon on the top bar on the right. You can rename creatures by going to the my creatures page (click on 36 creatures bar on the sidebar) and then click on the red icon next to the star at the bottom of pet.
