I was a bit nervous at first, because it’s been years since I’ve been unwillingly inducted into a cult or a chanting circle. I kind of thought I’d get there, and everyone would see how out of practice I was, and boy…if you saw my kick steps, you’d know I hadn’t done a jumping jack or prayer dance in forever.

But, here comes old Cecil, with his hair withdrawn and his eyes covered in flesh, ripe for the teasing, and they welcomed me without judgment or hesitations. I wasn’t two steps into their circle before someone drew blood from my neck, and everyone cheered…ah! What fun!

About Leafly Eggs

Leafly eggs have a very radiant glow. This can make them stand out too much at night in the eyes of predators, so the mothers will often wrap them up in leaves or cover them with soil. Many Arkians often collect them before the hatching season in order to utilize them in natural lanterns.

About the Leafly Creature

When Leaflies hatch, their shine only intensifies. They go through the natural stages of a moth but are easily targeted because of their unique bodily functions. Many can be found in the Glowing Mushroom Fields of Ark, attempting to camouflage themselves from any harm. Strangely enough, they are the only known species of caterpillar that will indulge themselves on glowing mushrooms as well.

Luckily, when they undergo their transformation into a cocoon, they are able to spit out a very thick, hard-to-break substance that prevents most of their predators from consuming them. They will remain in this state for a few months and the closer they reach their final stage their glow will flare to an even brighter brilliance.

For some unknown reason, when Leaflies reach full maturity and are able to take flight, they lose most of their previous predators but do not gain any new ones. Birds and other flying creatures avoid them due to the light that they emit. After some research, the Science and Research Center in Ark City discovered that this was because the Leafly's light can become so dazzling it is actually capable of causing seizures.
