1 - The life of the chicken who lays the eggs. They are selectively bred to lay 300+ eggs when they should only lay 10-15 per year, which is taxing on their bodies. Almost all of them are kept in conditions of extreme confinement. Even free range egg standards are mostly horrendous - with only an A4 sheet of paper’s space per bird. It’s just one big cage instead of several smaller ones. 💔

2 - Around 6-7 billion male chicks are killed every year as soon as they hatch. Male chicks do not lay eggs, and they are not bred for meat either. They are “useless”. 🐣

3 - Viewing animal products as food, no matter how “ethical” the source - leads to where we are today. Everyone demanding said product, thus subjecting animals to factory style conditions. But they are not objects. They are alive. We should treat them as such, and not view their unfertilised eggs, milk, or flesh as products for us. 👎
