Making vegan jello without gelatin is so easy! Make your own homemade plant-based jello with just two ingredients! The recipe is incredibly easy, kid-friendly, and so delicious!

Prep Time - 10 mins
Servings - 4

Ingredients

πŸ“ 2 cups fruit juice
πŸ“ 1/2 teaspoon agar agar
πŸ“ 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)

Instructions

🫐 1. Pour the juice into a sauce pan. If using add the sugar and stir. Add the agar agar. Then bring it to a boil on medium heat. When it begins to boil, turn the heat down to low heat and cook for 4 minutes, whisking constantly with a whisk.

🫐 2. Pour the mixture into a glass or moulds. Don't worry it's totally normal that it hasn't set yet and is still like juice.

🫐 3. Place in the fridge and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

🫐 4. Carefully remove it from the jello mold or just enjoy it in the glass or mold without removing it.

Notes

πŸ’ Once your jello has set, store it in the fridge. It will turn very liquidy again if stored at room temperature.

πŸ’ It's important that your juice agar agar mixture will come to a full boil. Otherwise it won't set properly.

πŸ’ Also make sure to constantly stir the mixture as it boils to ensure that the agar agar is evenly distributed. Otherwise some parts of the juice might not contain enough agar agar to set completely.

πŸ’ You should use agar agar powder and not flakes for this recipe. Powder is more concentrated and it can't be replaced one-to-one. The basic rule is that you can replace 1 teaspoon of agar agar powder with 1 tablespoon of agar agar flakes, but I haven't tried it for this recipe yet.

You can also use fruit puree instead of fruit juice. This option is ideal if you prefer fresh fruit or don’t have any juice on hand. Also, it calls for slightly less agar agar powder than the fruit juice version.

Ingredients

πŸ“ 1 cup water
πŸ“ Β½ cup fruit puree (any fruit except for pineapples, kiwis, papayas, mangos, and guavas)
πŸ“ 4 tbsp sugar (adjust according to sweetness of juice)
πŸ“ 1 tsp agar agar powder

Instructions

🫐 1. Combine all the ingredients in a small pot.

🫐 2. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer, mixing frequently. Simmer for 4 to 5 minutes.

🫐 3. Carefully pour into silicone molds or a greased heat-safe baking dish. Let sit until it reaches room temperature, then chill for 2 hours or until set.

About Terraturt Eggs

This egg seems to be home to more than just the creature growing inside...

About the Terraturt Creature

Terraturts like be in low-lying, wet areas where the water does not move that fast. There they do not have to worry about their environment changing too much and can focus on growing into their terrarium-like, glass shell. Terraturts actually shed their hard, outer shell once the glass has grown on the inside of the shell. After the glass casing matures, the shell simply drops off the creature's body.

A Terraturt's terrarium is primarily home to insects. Some of these insects can be found natively on Ark outside of the glass terrarium but others are Terraturt-only insects. It seems that there is something special about the Terraturt's biology and genes that gives rise to birth new lifeβ€”perhaps we could call it a self-contained experiment in evolution and natural selection.
