Pawanunking - meaning "River of Flint"
I seen that gray circle and instantly though Flint. And it's like hey, there's a Flint River not too far from here. I know these Otters are South American, but I'm sure any water related name still honors their spirit.
Pronounced /alternate word Pe-an-a-go-win-see-be
according to thumbwind.com (but most sites I found say it was the spelling I used, so I went with it.)

Edit (doubting the authenticity of the latter as i also found it on Google Books as a reprint from 1886. And having talked to a few modern tribal language preservers in more recent years I found a lot of the books published back then were written by the white man and are very inaccurate. - And there are a lot of words that have been deliberately changed by tribes for more culturally appropriate meanings. Just like other language, theirs evolve too. What was true 150 years ago, may not be true today. Still... using old words is fun. Just thought I'd give the FYI.)

About the Otep Creature

The Otep is a carnivorous mammal. It is the longest member of the weasel family, Mustelidae, a globally successful group of predators, reaching up to 1.8 meters in length. Atypical of mustelids, the giant otter is a social species, with family groups typically supporting three to eight members. The groups are centered on a dominant breeding pair and are extremely cohesive and cooperative. Although generally peaceful, the species is territorial, and aggression has been observed between groups. The giant otter is diurnal, being active exclusively during daylight hours.

It is the noisiest otter species, and distinct vocalizations have been documented that indicate alarm, aggression, and reassurance.

Based on the giant river otter from South America.
