catch ID: c6ivQxdU30E8L5n6ZxardKXLA1KEp6ck

Finally! I have been trying for days, and all through Creature Release Week's extra bonus attempts boost! With nary a Marley in sight.

Originally meant to only have one W in the name, but it just didn't look right to me; I kept reading it as Mars No Winter. Now it's more like Marshmellow Snow Winter. : P

Fun-fact: Today is the 3rd day of testing out the new Monthly/Daily challenges and the first of having to to give items to creatures. I like to curate stories on my creatures, with purpose. And I want my list of purchases in the cash shop to actually be for legitimate purchases. But a friend had an idea, we're going to share a communal item yeeting creature. I just got done setting up its profile when i caught the Marley! Now my first item EVER for the Dailies can go to this Marley! What perfect timing!

Item collection
even if thedarkarcher hadn't specifically requested it, I wanted to include a few items somewhere between the aesthetic of the Marley creature and some of my favorite items to give a little touch of myself to it.
I always like to put thoughtfulness into gifts. Usually the focus is on the recipient, so being asked to have it be about ourselves was a fun change of pace. Somewhere between being a unique challenge and a miniature scrapbook (the latter being something I've kind of wanted to do, but haven't done since moving out of my childhood bedroom and taking down my artwork and trinkets.)

About Marlay Eggs

Marlay eggs play a trick on the human eye: their consistency looks as smooth as iced glass, yet they feel salty and grainy to the touch.

About the Marlay Creature

In the ancient Seamer language, which is no longer spoken, the word marlay means "the creature carved of salt and ice." According to the Seamer legends, Marlae were created by Seamer gods in the coldest of the southern seas of Ark. It was rumored that they were only able to survive in near-freezing water (thus why they were never seen in Ark).

Remarkably, a scientist collecting samples at the southern tip of Ark (the coldest part of the island) noticed two creatures striving to stay afloat. The scientist recognized them as Marlae from studying The Ancient Tales of Old and the Seamer legends. Marlae have been carefully monitored in recent days and are now seen in some of the hottest, northern parts of Ark; they have repopulated. It is considered a modern miracle that a male and female pair were conveniently found at the southern tip and can now survive in the brutal heat, unlike their 4,000-year-old counterparts described in The Ancient Tales of Old...
