Yep, one of my favorite days on the year. đWhat did you buy?Share and tell your stories here!I woke up at 3: 30AM to go to shops with my dad. We bought a table tennis table, slippers, pjs, Wii games, Wii chargers, Corelle cups & plates, and a 46" LED Hitachi TV. (and more stuff) (: I got 4h and 30m of sleep. đUsually, the shops where the crowd goes open at 5AM, but this year, they opened at midnight, so all the crazy people were gone buy the time we went. xD I heard someone almost got ran over by a truck. /recklesshypeddrivers
crescentfeather • 25 November 2011 at 11:25 AM
@whitefall 0_0Did we both create a topic at the same time? XDDD
Deleted • 25 November 2011 at 11:25 AM
OMG SERIOUSLY. ANOTHER person died? That's so sad! âšī¸ We were talkin' about that at Thanksgiving too..>.>
cqpkytty • 25 November 2011 at 11:27 AM
@dawnie@whitefall said that she heard that someone ALMOST got run over.
whitefall • 25 November 2011 at 11:27 AM
@crescentfeatherOh, I checked before I posted, and yours wasn't up yet. I'm on my iPad, so taking time to make sure I don't make silly spelling mistakes. XD So it took longer to type out.....@dawnieSomeone died? :0
crescentfeather • 25 November 2011 at 11:28 AM
@whitefall That explains it. |D*mass confusion ensues*
Deleted • 25 November 2011 at 11:28 AM
@Cqpkytty Ok, good. But still, people are so wreckless and heartless too.I mean sheesh.
whitefall • 25 November 2011 at 11:30 AM
@dawnieYeah, people get a bit crazy and lose their common sense when they need to get to Best Buy at 6Pm because they need to stand in line to get that TV or camera when the store opens at midnight. xP
meixiaotian • 25 November 2011 at 11:30 AM
What's Black Friday?!*feels dumb*
Deleted • 25 November 2011 at 11:31 AM
@Whitefall Yeah.But I'm sure their kid will be really thankful for their new laptop or whatever, that someone almost DIED for.That's why I don't go Black Friday shopping. I'd get trampled.
glados • 25 November 2011 at 11:35 AM
My friend died on Black Friday last year.I don't go out.
whitefall • 25 November 2011 at 11:36 AM
@gladesOh gosh, that's sad. ^^;Well, the economy's bad, so everyone's happy to see some cheap stuff. :/
crescentfeather • 25 November 2011 at 11:37 AM
@GLaDOS What happened? D:
glados • 25 November 2011 at 11:38 AM
@whitefallI want cheap stuff, though. (:@crescentfeatherThey were being dumb and didn't have their seatbelts on.Eh.But I wasn't /too/ close to her.
briseis • 25 November 2011 at 11:38 AM
Sigh...to be honest, I find black friday to be not only ridiculous but a statement of our greed. Do we really want a material good so much that we're willing to risk our safety and our lives for it? I have a TV and I haven't watched it in 6 months. My dad, on the other hand, is glued to the TV almost 10 hours a day, and he wants a 65'' TV for the bedroom. If he buys a TV for the bedroom, I will never see him again. He'll have the door locked, and I'll have no contact with him. I don't think that's a very good thing.Maybe I'm just biased because I'm not a material person at all. I just find black friday to be ridiculous, and it really does bring out the worst in people (not everyone, but most of them, because most of the people that actually go to black friday are people like that). Now it's time for everyone to slander me and give me plenty of reasons why I'm wrong. Shoot.
crescentfeather • 25 November 2011 at 11:40 AM
@briseis I see your point... my dad's glued to technology most of the day.@GLaDOS You... were with her? 0_0
glados • 25 November 2011 at 11:42 AM
@briseisRight!@crescentfeatherNO. Otherwise I'd be dead. D:It was all over the news and my school, though.
meixiaotian • 25 November 2011 at 11:42 AM
What's black friday?!!
zafeyry • 25 November 2011 at 11:43 AM
@whitefall6 PMs nothing here. We had someone camp outside Best Buy for 2 weeks. But most people went out at like 8 or 9 in the morning on Thanksgiving to wait.
whitefall • 25 November 2011 at 11:43 AM
@briseisWell yes, Black Friday does show greed sometimes....But there's still a good chunk of good people there. đUsually, we don't buy anything. Like around me, people have a billion electronics, and a billion games. But all I have is my iPad and Wii.My dad won the iPad at a lottery at his office, and he bought the Wii. We only have three Wii games....So I don't think we're greedy. đ¸My dad's always saying no to pricey items, but Black Friday is when he's not so strict. A bit looser.This year, we've spent the most than we usually spend. =P
himitsutenshin • 25 November 2011 at 11:53 AM
What is Black Friday?? :/I feel so dumb now D:
briseis • 25 November 2011 at 11:54 AM
@whitefall It just seems to me that people use black friday as an excuse to buy things they don't need. I'm not judging in any sense of the word, but did you need that TV, table tennis table, slippers, pjs, Wii products? If you didn't, then why did you buy them? Because the store gave you the sense that you were buying something for cheap, when normally the price is high? Again, I'm simply asking. I don't know your family situation and I will not even try to assume. It's rude to assume, and I understand that đ.
crescentfeather • 25 November 2011 at 11:55 AM
@himitsutenshinIt's when everything's on sale, basically. đ
whitefall • 25 November 2011 at 11:57 AM
@meixiaotian@himitsutenshinBlack Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the United States. On this day, most major retailers open extremely early, often at 4 a.m., or earlier, and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season. Black Friday isn't an actual holiday, but many non-retail employers give their employees the day off, increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005. (;
cafe • 25 November 2011 at 11:58 AM
I don't goI'm only 4'9".5I'd get lost in the crowd and/or trampled.
crescentfeather • 25 November 2011 at 12:00 PM
@cafe Maybe not trampled. e3eBut yes. I see your point.
whitefall • 25 November 2011 at 12:03 PM
@briseisI needed the pajamas and slippers, my feet get really cold, even with socks in winter. Wii game - eh, unnecessary, but my dad it's like my and my brother's Christmas present. đAnd I have have no clue why we bought the TV. Our TV's a 15year old Sony, but still okay. I asked my dad, and he said it's basically for show. We recently bought a house, and a fifteen year old TV doesn't look that good in a brand new house. x3Yes, some things unnecessary, but we would've bought them at some point in time. ^^
briseis • 25 November 2011 at 12:05 PM
@whitefall ah, I see...I'm moving to a very small town, hopefully I won't have to deal with black friday or material greed. I'm not saying you are greedy, or your family---I'm talking about other people who trample others and force their children to camp with them for days outside a store, sometimes in the snow or severe cold. Those people make me sick to my stomach. I'm holding out the hope in a small college town people will see each other and see nature as more important than a TV or an Ipad or a new gaming system.
candy_girl_1298 • 25 November 2011 at 12:07 PM
i got an ipod today XD .... but my parents say i cant use it yet because its supposed to be my thanksgiving and christmas and birthday and new years present... so i have to wait until all that is over XDits only 9 am here, so were going shopping later đ@briseis i agree with you. but the things we buy are things we need, like clothes, etc. and yes we do get //unneccesary// technology sometimes (like my ipod) but we deserve happy moments in life, right? â¤ī¸my family is just the type that likes to save on everything. when we go to the dentist we take more toothbrushes/floss so we dont have to buy XD
icymuffin • 25 November 2011 at 12:08 PM
Almost exactly the same as cafe. xDWhoot! Short people FTW~~!I'm listening to the news & it says this lady took out pepper spray and used it on the crowd around her to get the Xbox 360 games. o_O Some competetive shopping that is...
