I'm preparing for the ACT at the moment, which happens to be this Saturday. I got the ACT practice book on Sunday, and I'm finding that reading through it thouroughly is actually very, very helpful. I got a 1740 on the SAT, but since the college I want to go to next year really only cares about the ACT, I'm putting a lot more time and effort into it. Is anyone else taking the ACT? Or have you already taken it? I'm just curious if anyone is a junior or senior right now.

@briseisHm, I'm taking the ACT and SAT sometime this year. Was going to last year, but didn't have enough time, and my dad don't think I was prepared, even though no scores count until high school 😋 But we took the ACT Explore (Same thing but smaller and determines possible career choices) and it was really easy. Math was easier than I thought....It was PreAlgebra, and I'm doing Trigonometry 😸So everything was easy. ^^

If I remember right, I have to take the ACT in the spring.Took the PSAT not long ago, and I think I probably did pretty good... But haven't gotten the scores back yet, so I'm just speculating. 😈

I'm taking it in the Spring. Nervous nervous nervous.

Aren't you two seniors? xD@pipkitten @briseis@plookleGood luck Plooky~

@pipkitten I'm taking the ACT this Saturday. Some colleges require it, some don't. Taking both the SAT and the ACT is beneficial to every student and that's why I took the SAT along with the ACT 😊. @whitefall yep, I'm a senior. I took the SAT November 5th, and I'm taking the ACT, as I said to pipkitten, this Saturday. Thankfully the Princeton Review ACT prep book is VERY helpful and I'm getting pretty well in the math section, which I'm normally horrid at. So hopefully I'll get a much higher score than I got on the SAT and the college I want will accept me. 😃

@briseisThat's the book my dad borrowed from the library in the summer when he wanted me to study! He's always telling me to take it, but I can't take it unless he sets up a date and pays! Haha 😸I also borrowed the Kaplan SAT book. Helpful also~But you already took the SAT, so it would be no use for you. xD

@whitefall I have the Kaplan SAT book, and to be honest it wasn't nearly as helpful as the Princeton Review's prep books. I really like the Princeton Review for the ACT---it's very user-friendly and engaging, and it helps you through every problem. I really enjoy doing it actually 😊.

@WhitefallHehe, I'm a junior. 😉@BriseisI'm going to do both as well. 😊 I'm not sure which one of the 2 colleges I've been considering I want to go to, and each requires a different test. Might as well do both and then think more! ^^

@pipkitten I want to go to the University of South Dakota, and they only really care about the ACT (unless, of course, you can only take the SAT in your state/region), so I'm putting a ton of effort into my studying so that I can get a great grade on the test and hopefully be accepted. Thankfully I have a prep book that really explains everything for me; it's really helpful!

We had people from the career center come in and tell us about what colleges accept what ACT score and high school GPA (well accepted students average GPA and ACT score) and I wrote it all down somewhere, let me find it. xD
plookle • 5 December 2011 at 11:17 PM
One thing colleges DO look at is how many times you take the tests. So don't overdo it. If they see that you've taken the tests too many times, even with score select, they'll think twice before accepting you.

@BriseisEven if one of 'em doesn't get used, I'm still going to do both just to learn from taking them. A little extra knowledge is always good~ ^^ And hooray for prep books!

@pipkittenLook at my beautiful chart x'DTook so much effort to copy it down while the speaker was changing slide screens every twenty seconds. 😃 Skill~@plookleI'm just going to take it four times~One now + the three that actually countIt's three that count, right? ^^;

@pipkittenI edited it x'DHonestly, I wanna go to some Ivy League school....But too expensive and I'm not that smart xP
pipkitten • 5 December 2011 at 11:44 PM
@WhitefallOh, the awesome power of the edit... O_OThere's this really awesome art school I want to go to in Seattle, but I fear it's too expensive because of out-of-state tuition and housing because I don't have anyone there to crash with. *tosses dreams out window*

@pipkittenSame! xD Minus the art. o.oMy Asian gene failed at the art part, pooh.
pipkitten • 5 December 2011 at 11:52 PM
@WhitefallLol, Asian gene fail. XDI have no idea where I get my art talent from... Nobody in my family is even half decent at stick figures. 😈 I guess I'll just blame it on my Norwegian and German genes~ 😋

I have, twice. I'm a senior and definitely did much better the second time around.😋 Still waiting on my second SAT score, but I'm pleased with my new ACT score.Either way, both scores are sufficient for both the colleges at the top of my list, so I should be good.

Never took ACT only SAT and then the weird specific ones for science or history etc. Most people just take the SAT where I am from.
