... that the ends justifies the means?I always decide to do the ends, to be safe, and help people. Apart from when the "ends" is where I risk my life saving someone/thing. But I've never been stuck in that case, and probably won't.And I won't explain what this phrase means, you'll have to ask someone else. Because I suck at explaining.So. Do you think that the ends justifies the means? And please, do not make this topic into an argument, I just want opinions (debating is OK, violent argument is not).~Karamel#kara

I'll just put in a nice link here about the phrase that I pretty much agree with since I do not strictly agree or disagree with the phrase:http://www.aeriagloris.com/UnrestrictedWarfare/TheEndJustifiesTheMeans.htm

on a case by case basis...Hitler thought the end result of what he was trying to accomplish justified the means of mass homicide. However, I believe that a scenario where someone is hurt (a breakup, for instance is the means) so that they may move on and accomplish better things (the end). It is justifiable.@karamel

I agree with @phoenixfoxIt depends on the situation. Some people who commit murders or kidnappings believe the end justifies the means.

@phoenixfox / @crazy4lifeBut didn't Hitler DESERVE the means? After the ends going completely wrong and causing WWII? He thought he was doing the right thing, and obviously homicide was better than being captured and "scolded" and put to death anyway; that would be what they'd do.

@karamelLet me clarify:His means was the mass homicide of the Jewish people to create the end result of a superior Aryan people. -This unjustifiableWar War II and the loss of many peoples lives as the means to take out/ end the single most evil tyrant in the world. - Justifiable

@phoenixfox Would you not think that the ends justifies the means for a similar problem? Or would your answer be similar to above?
phoenixfox • 6 January 2012 at 3:00 PM
@karamelYes, to a similar problem like Bin Laden or Ghadfi. But depends on the situation,I believe the "end" result of having my family safe and protected from outside threats "justifies" the "means" of sacrificing my life at the front of a battle.

@phoenixfox But (if I remember correctly) those two were killed, not them killing themselves. This doesn't really refer to the phrase of the ends justifying the means, as we did the justifying of the means, and they didn't really do ends: they simply killed.
