I was wondering on other people's thoughts on taxidermy.
briseis • 11 January 2012 at 9:48 PM
Taxidermy? It's somewhat morbid. The body of an animal shouldn't be mounted like a trophy. Maybe I have an old-fashioned view about corpses.
piucca • 11 January 2012 at 10:36 PM
@briseisI never seen them as trophies. Not sure what you mean by old fashion though.Taxidermy has been around for centuries lol.I agree, it is morbid. đ

I find that animals that have been stuffed are just creepy. It just feels as if they are watching you.Taxidermy as a job might not be so bad though.
mightyeglantine • 11 January 2012 at 11:03 PM
@piuccaIn my opinion Taxidermy is wrong in every way it's just like a wax house creatures killed and put into unnatural positions for the amusement of others... Animals shouldn't be killed for sport in my mind I believe we should only use what we need and leave others to live (Except I'm a Vegetarian) but in many cases of Taxidermy it is just wrong it makes me wanna cry when I see a poor animal get hurt or even killed for amusement...We should learn from wildlife only take what is needed don't kill more than you need... I also look down upon hunting....

Ew.^My thoughts exactly.._.
piucca • 12 January 2012 at 9:49 AM
@duchessWhat if it was sleeping? lol@mightyeglantine~What about road kill?~Wax museum?~They are made from wax not people or animals. If you are talking about deer. People eat the meat after they kill them, you do know that, right?@skyNot much going on up there?thank you any way đ
mightyeglantine • 12 January 2012 at 10:05 AM
@piuccaRoad kill is OK......I didnt necessarily mean they were made out of wax but I meant as they were killed and stuffed and shaped into poses...I know in Arkansas some people hunt just for amusement they kill a deer and then they just leave the carcass to rot or they take it to a Taxidermist...(I used to live in Arkansas for a few months....)

@PiuccaI find it rather creepy, but nothing wrong with it unless you don't waste the animal you've killed [Like, deer] To be honest, I'd rather someone mount a head. The head isn't wasting. Now, for pets, that's just like... I can't mount my animals. I'd feel like they're watching me from the dead. Like, they're not there but can still see you though the glass eyes...//shudders//Other people, if that's they're way of coping for their losses; go for it. Me, not so much.I'm actually interested in crystallizing [Whatever you call it] eggs, from the clutches that don't hatch when I get my own little farm [Starting to save up money] I have a thing with eggs. Iunno why. I just love the shape and look of them.
linpug • 12 January 2012 at 10:17 AM
Yeah, I feel the same way. o.e ^
piucca • 12 January 2012 at 11:56 AM
@mightyeglantineWell those people should be hunted đ@cafeThe glass eyes creep me out lolI "mounted" a squirrel yesterday in a peaceful sleeping pose.I wouldn't mind getting my rats done, but I wouldn't be able to do it my self o.o; I think I would be crying too much. The egg thing sounds cool. What do you want in your farm?
cafe • 12 January 2012 at 1:40 PM
@PiuccaWell, I'm going to have to cut down a //lot// of grass that's on our land, that we share with my grandma, so I'd have to get her permission first; It would be [Hopefully] for a few cows, for milk [I'm going to try and find that hormone to make them lactate, so they don't have to calf.]Some quails and maybe a some of chickens. [Dunno if the chickens can go in the same pin as the quail, so that's a maybe] and I'll have to separate the males and females - for eggs. Have a little garden for vegetables.I can't do meat, I can't raise an animal from birth and slaughterer it. I grow an attachment. it. But I am going to try hunting deer with my God Father [My mom's ex] and use their meat. [I'm going to use a bow and arrow, not a gun. I want them to have a fighting chance.] And ask the Goddess and the God to help them to the bridge peacefully. All the food now-a-days scares me, so I'm going to try and start my own food supply. My nine year old cousin, NINE, is wearing bras. I almost fell in the floor when my mom showed me her birthday presents [Birthday = last monday]I couldn't get any of my pets done, cause it would hurt too much seeing them. And I also have an idea for when I die; I'm going to get missed in with all my animal's ashes, and compressed into a faux stone for my children and grandchildren.
piucca • 12 January 2012 at 2:12 PM
@cafeI think you can get a cow who is already lactatingthen as long as you don't stop milking it won't stop making milk đAt lest that is how humans are, hence the "wet maid"Chickens rock! They are so darn cute lol.I have a veggie garden, not quite a farm. Though it supports my family during the warm months.I hear deer meat is good, but it is an acquired taste.Bow an arrow is very hard, if you don't do it right you may not kill the animal the first time. đą So lots of practice đYeah, that is why I can't eat chicken as much any more âšī¸Which is very sad.Aww that is a great idea!I love that they can make jewels from ashes đ
duchess • 12 January 2012 at 3:51 PM
@piucca, A sleeping animal is a lot nicer than one that watches you đ The glass eyes are a bit creepy. It's really cool that you're getting into taxidermy đ
piucca • 12 January 2012 at 3:54 PM
@duchessThanks đIf you fancy your welcome to check the photo out on my deviantart.I rather not post a link here, but my profile link is on my Eggcave profile.

@PiuccaI know c:My God father hunts with bows and arrows, so I'd be learning from him.
