Help! I'm suffering from an addiction to...

UPDATE: Guys! Listen! I don't want to STOP PLAYING ENTIRELY, I just want to play LESS so I can do MORE homework when I'm supposed to do it. xP

Egg Cave! And NO, it's not a good thing!

I wake up somewhere from 5-7 AM (this will all be in my time - 3 hours earlier than Egg Cave time) and play Egg Cave until my mom wakes up. Sometimes until 7:30. (and I leave for school at 7:45.)

When I get home from school, I grab a snack, then "check/do my homework online". AKA, play Egg Cave. I often play until dinner.

After dinner, I practice piano. Then, if there's an hour or so left until bedtime, I use that time to rush through my homework (without my mom knowing - she thought I finished my homework sometime before dinner). Sometimes I skip even that, and just play more Egg Cave.



My grades are being affected, please help!

But I'm not as addicted as you. I'm just on ALL THE TIME FOR HOURS AND HOURS. I don't skip homework or meals though. And I don't think my grades are affected, I'm actually getting better at math! 😃

Maybe you should slowly back away from it.. (I heard this on Dr. Phil about a blankie or something LOL) So like tomorrow, get on for 30 minutes less than usual, and do that for a few days, and then after that get on for an hour less than usual, and so on. I have no idea if this will work.

What I would do is somehow prevent yourself from turning on your computer, maybe get a sybling to hide it from you xD Or just put it away where you can't see it so you don't get the random temptation. And you can always change your password on Eggcave and write it down somewhere, then hide the note or something like that. Just something so it's not easy to log in I guess ^^"

Do you set your alarm clock to wake up when you play eggcave in the morning? If so, dont set your alarm clock so you can sleep instead of being on eggcave. Also, i agree with @rawrcookies08

I do the same EXACT THING!
Try to cut an hour from eggcave (or half hour, Depends on what you can part with) And study the subject that needs Most, Then keep on moving along each night and then your grades should be at least better by a bit.

Well ACTUALLY I CANT EVEN DO THAT SO CROSS THAT OUT!
I HAVE A HORRIBLE ADDICTION, I MAY EVEN BE MORE ADDICTED THAN YOU! XD

I mean, it's SERIOUS. Sometimes, in the middle of class, I worry about having a ton of notifications when I get home. Sometimes, when I'm trying to go to sleep, I'm annoyed that I have to wait all the way until morning to get back on.

It's BAD.

You can also try to convince yourself you're bored LOL. I used to do this kind of thing and then I got bored and now I don't =D

Lemme try here:

What are you actually doing? Talking about random stuff and staring at your pixels. Then you're trying to trade your pixels for other pixels... there isn't much activity in that, it's not even so much a game. Sure talking is fun but it can wait till after your homework. And there will always be trades so what are you actually missing if you're not on all the time?

Seriously you can convince yourself if you really try.

... You are really suffering... Get your parents to hide your computer. If it's a pc. Get them to take it out and hide it. What ever they do, even if you start whining, they cannot let you play. If you have an electronic that has internet, ask your parents to hide it with a lock.
Usually what i do with my sister is... Hide her iphone in my room with a lock only i have the keys to. Her itouch? I hide it. Her computer? LOCKED with a passcode. My ipad? I use it. If she touches it... I bite her. Literally. My computer? 8D passcode. My mom's computer- mom literally uses it all day to watch dramas.

Some computers have time limits. You can set a time limit (30 min?) and play untill your computer turns off after 30 min. 😸 Also, if you dont want your parents to know about your adiction and you have a sibling, you can ask your sibling to hide the computer instead of asking your parents.

It might be in parental control... Another thing is you can come up with a different hobby. Like, a sport, drawing, ext. Then, you wont be on eggcave as much.

@cqpkytty Stop. Stop. That's what why @cocoae quit. quitting is one option, another would to call it cold turkey. Seriously, Egg Cave should only be used as a reward. :/ Block Egg Cave then unblock it.

I'm sort of like this too xD

I just write out a scedule for myself with some time reserved for finishing homework & and some for playing on Egg Cave :]
If I fail to keep it I start feeling guilty, so that helps me keep to it xD

Just forcing yourself to stop suddenly doesn't help 'cuz you still want to go on. But lowering your time on Egg Cave slowly helps I think :]

i would go with sarahsaurus's idea have a sibling hide it from you. Also you can change your egg cave passward and write it down somwhere you hardly will remember.
