which makes more sense, grammer wise, 'The leading cause of death is death' or "The leading cause of death is dying?' its to settle a arguement between me and auntie. XD if you can, explain.

@bettafish
From a purely grammatical standpoint, "The leading cause of death is death" is more appropriate.

Out of curiosity, what point are you trying to make . . . ? That statement on its own elicits a sarcastic, "You don't say?"

@Bettafish Grammar wise, "The only cause of death is death" is better. Especially because you spelled "dying" wrong. >.> If you had spelled it right, then I could reconsider...

@silver_winged @dreamer XD thanks for helping prove me right. XD she keeps saying that so she can try to mess up my joke, it goes like this. 'Say, do you know what the leading cause of death is?' and then the other person says 'No, why?' And then the origanal person says 'The leading cause of death is death.'

@bettafish
Right, explanation. Sorry.

"The leading cause of death is death" is a sentence that identifies the leading cause of death. "The leading cause of death is dying," however, states that the leading cause of death happens to be dying. For example, if you had previously stated that sharks were the leading cause of death, then saying "The leading cause of death is dying" would suggest that the sharks were dying.

Better?
