I have stage fright. Today I had ALL my lines memorized for Act III scene I of Romeo and Juliet, I play the character Mercutio, which is the best friend of Romeo and is of course, a Montague. I was the last group to go up and act out the scene, when I got up there, I felt confident in myself, only until I got to my second line (which is really long) did I start feeling feel nervous, I knew that everyone was watching and it made me nervous. Next thing you know, I started stumbling on my lines, my body started shaking and afterwards, I felt ashamed and angered. All that memorization for nothing!

My friend @Morgana had been in the same situation, she was in a different group but had the same line and played the same role.

I'm hoping there's a chance that I can redo this...

By the way, this was an in-class performance.

@Morgana

I was shaking like a chihuahua TT~TT

At least we're going through this together, just like we went through memorizing our lines together.

Awh man, there's nothing worse than stage fright...
I've suffered through quite a bit of it, myself, shaking and all.
Just don't think about the audience. Imagine yourself as your character and have fun with your role. Imagine the setting around you as if you were really there.
That's what always helped me. It makes the audience fade away into non-existence~ 😊

@Morgana

I say we go beg and plead them to let us redo this...

@Pipkitten

I was trying to do exactly that, but it didn't work, my body started shaking, I wanted to stop shaking, then it just went downhill from there.

@Sky
Ooh, bummer. ): I'm sorry things didn't go very well for you!

If it makes you feel any better, I once completely forgot my lines during a huge public performance in front of at least 100 people..!

@Pipkitten

I'm just wishing that I didn't freeze up.

Awh, I've been on stage a couple of times, but for some reason I just...ugh. I'm disappointed in myself.

@Sky
Don't be disappointed in yourself because you freeze up. It happens to everyone~
Spending a whole year in a drama class and being the pride and joy of the FFA leader for giving reasons in animal judging have taught me that.
Just keep working at it, and you'll eventually be fine in front of an audience. It may take some time, but trust me, you'll overcome your stage fright. (:

@Pipkitten

I hope I get used to it over time. I've planned to rejoin chorus next year with my friend, and to join drama club with my other friend. Those should help me overcome my fear, my friend who's joining chorus with me is used to it because she has done ballet ever since she was little. She doesn't do it anymore but she still has enough confidence. I did a play with her once, but I had an extra small role, I just played as her pet cat.

@Sky
That's the ticket! You'll be over your stage fright before you know it~ 😊
Haha, I'd love to play the role of a pet cat. xD Just seems sorta fitting, y'know? *points to username*
...I somehow always seem to get stuck with the roles of either a restaurant owner or a lady with an intent to murder someone.

@sky

I've had your problem before, although I've never joined any drama/performance classes. I'm not a person who cares what other people think yet if I have to speak in front of a group I go completely ashen and shake like there's no tomorrow. It's awful.

So, just a little update.
I just got news that we are going to redo our scenes!
I'm hoping I can do better next time, and hopefully not freeze up! Wish me luck!
