My parents got divorced when I was three, and I live with my dad. I get to see my mom on the weekends.

And my dad said unless I finish my essay, I'm not allowed to go this weekend.

But isn't that like, court order that we do?
My friend said it is, and I was just wondering.. 😋

And we're supposed to go every weekend, but we go every OTHER weekend.

That is illegal. If it is in the divorce decree, then your mother could hold him in contempt of court and possibly even have the custody agreement reversed. There should be a clause in the custody arrangement that states, "unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties."

It depends on the custody papers. I don't know if it's NECESSARILY illegal because sometimes you may not be able to go because you have something going on or whatever. I do think its wrong that he's taking you every other weekend. Have you tried bringing it to his attention that you shouldn't legally HAVE to finish your essay? Or just finish your essay and go! LOL😊 Good Luck😊

@Rileytibbles_Side I want to! I have a laptop there, and I'd do it. But he's so STUBBORN. And it's not due until next Tuesday.
