With EC you can buy Travels and book your creatures in Tim's food shoppe and with CC you can buy special creatures and other special stuff (CC costs real money)

Like Miomar said, CC costs real money.
You can also buy freezing potions to keep an egg in its current stage, or a Mars/Venus stone to change the gender.
Some CC eggs include: Sheap, Onny, Doovoo, Macbot, Luvlei, Gobbler, Balrogipuwet, Rhinedorf, Clous, Blu, Berr, and many more.
They do retire, and become more rare.

The travels are basically backgrounds for your eggs. You can change them after sending your pets on one, but you don't get the travel back if you send your pet on one and then bring it back.
