9 Years Earlier:
A burning village lights the night. Screams can be heard audibly, cutting through the still silence of the world.
A black eyed ninja, a bulky reaver, and alithe assassin run through the streets, cutting down any man brave enough to face them.
Akaretsu kneels behind his family's dinner table, trembling with fear. A black shadow appears in the burning doorway. Akaretsu throws his hands to his face to avoid the blow that this reaver will most likely deliver.
No punch comes.
Akaretsu looks up and sees his father's tearstained face.
"Run, little one."
"Father-"
"RUN!"
Akaretsu turns and runs into the forest. He hears his father running after him. He turns.
His heart freezes.
The black-eyed ninja, crouched on the roof of a neighbor's house, throws a suriken at his father.
The ninja doesn't miss.
Akaretsu turns and runs into the night.
