My Cat...

20 years. 20 whole years. Ended in only 4 days.

My dad had a little cat, and he got her when she was only 6 weeks old. I've seen pictures of her as a kitten, and she was adorable! Just a little gray ball of fluff with bright eyes.

I was probably born when that cat was only 7 or 8 years old. I mean, my dad had her even longer than he had us! We had a few other cats (my dad had 5 at the same time at one point), but I only remember one of my other cats, named Princess, who had kittens when I was in preschool. My parents had to give her and the babies away to an animal shelter.

So this cat that we've had longer than any of the rest. She was a small, fuzzy gray old-lady cat, named Gizmo. Like, the gremlin. We called her Gizzy. ^^

For the past few days, she wasn't eating or drinking. She never goes downstairs, but on Saturday night my dad brought her down overnight. She was wrapped up in a blanket on the couch all day yesterday.

When I got home today, I was walking down the street, and my dad pulled up in the car to go to work. He told me that she died this afternoon.

I mistreated her, but now I miss the little old cat. I stayed with her for most of the day yesterday, and whispered the words to my favorite poem in her ear.

I know my dad's gonna be a wreck now. That cat was so special to him. :/
