Seriously. We've ALL been to school/are still in school. And if not, WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING ON THE INTERNET?

Let's start with commas, shall we?
Let's say we're eating with Grandma.

Correct:
"Let's eat, Grandma."

Incorrect:
"Let's eat Grandma."

Please, spare poor Grandma, and PUT A COMMA. One more second to type, oh well, I'm sure that comma will mean the world, to Grandma.

Now, class, let's move on, shall we?

This is not some "Who can write a message in the most unrecognizable way" Contest. It's TWO not 2, BE not B, GOT not gotz. Oh, and I got a text saying, "TZTYL." SERIOUSLY? And we wonder what's wrong with the world.

Using words correctly.

Correct:
"There is some cornbread, in the oven."

Incorrect:
"They're some cornbread, in the oven."

There is just SO MUCH MORE I'd like to enlighten you on, but I'm sure I'll get some hate.

HIT ME WITH YOUR CRITICISM.

@dawnie

I agree. Though, I struggle with commas. I put too many in. I place a comma every time I pause to think. I can't help that.

But it does drive me crazy. I can't even roleplay on this site without wanting to blow my brains out.

How about the 'your' vs 'you're.' That drives me more batty than any other mistake.

'Then' and 'than' are right up there, too.

XD

@Dawnie my Language teacher says, "Comma is one letter away from coma!"

xD

Deleted • 12 April 2012 at 5:21 PM

@April__ Ah, yes. But it makes me want to punch a baby when they mix up: Their, they're, and there, and I love babies. D;

I can't stand it when there is no commas, but I think I put too many in. I do the same thing as you.

I'd rather there be too many commas than none.

I get then and than mixed up sometimes, though. So I can't get mad about that.

Then refers to time. She went to the baseball game and then to the party.

Than is when comparing two things.

She'd rather have ice cream than a chocolate bar.

That's all. ^.^ Comparing = than...

Everything else = then

@dawnie It gets on my nerves when people so it too often. When someone spells something 1 letter wrong, I look at my keyboard like "okay, they could've messed up" but when they say "lok oferr der" I just get a little bit annoyed. I can see how that other topic turned into a "who can write a message in the most unrecognizable way" so I made a topic to keep all the improper grammar away from it. It can be fun but only in a certain way, like in the topic I made 😋

"They're some cornbread, in the oven". XD I hope Grandma is not the cornbread, because it seems like everyone wants to eat her X3

@Dawnie

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. O.o

Well when I feel lazy I don't use proper grammar. xD

And they don't teach the 10 year olds as much grammar..

We never do writing any more.

But the first one I would do right, because "Let's eat Grandmar" that's just cruel. xD

@dawnie

I agree on every last thing you said. I only make a few mistakes on the Internet when:

*I mispell a word, either by not knowing how to spell it, or typos.
*I forget my stupid endmarks. D:
*I mix up 'then' and 'than'.
*I'm in a hurry and use "BRB" or "G2G".
*When I try to sound silly and use words like "iz" instead of "is" or "are".

I agree with the 2nd and 3rd part, sort of. But the first part doesn't bother me nor do I give a dang if someone doesn't use a comma there. 😋

Deleted • 12 April 2012 at 5:35 PM

@Univea Lol, poor Grandma. 😋

Yeah, like that, gets on my nerves. It's kind of common sense.

What made me is I saw. "There quitting all to go."
and "I except everything."
-C-

People make me this way.. xD

@Dawnie

Exactly, we all go/went to school for a reason and no one should waste it!

I know that I hate text sayings, because I have to go searching up the meaning every time. :/

@Evilyowling RIGHT?

I was like "What the >InsertwordherexD< DOES THAT MEAN??!"

It always annoys me.

SOMEONE payed for you to go to school, don't waste it and say stupid crap like that. -.-

@Plushie Hehe, poor Grandma.(:

@Dawnie

But I kinda don't like this topic..

When was the last time my school learn't about There's ect? Hmm I think 5 years ago! In prep.

And the only things these teachers teach us is Inguiry and Math! We don't need that stuff any more! We have plenty learn't! Yet they do a terrible job!

I don't even know what TZTYL means. ;A;

*n00b moment*

ANYWAYS.

The Grandma example sounds like it came from Eats, Shoots, and Leaves. 😃 It's a book that should be read by all of the people here who are so lazy that they don't even bother trying to press an extra button on their keyboards. Or touch screens. Whatever.

Also, Don't You Hate It When People Capitalize The First Letter Of All The Words In Their Sentences? I mean, seriously? Why do you people feel the need to do extra work and press the shift key for every single word?

I have a quote in my email signature that goes:

"Let's eat, Grandma!"

"Let's eat Grandma!"

...commas save lives.
